Guest guest
I am using the 1% HC cream (cortaid) since my stomach can't take HC capsules and taking some amino acids for neurotransmitter balance (GABA, Theanine, 5 htp). Will any of these skew the saliva test results from Diagnos Techs? I am afraid to stop using any of them for the test...do I have to stop? Guest guest
The HC cream certainly will, you need to stop it for at least 2 weeks before the test. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Val, Thanks Val. My anxiety is almost unbearable when I go off HC completely. Can I just notate on the form I am using it so they will calculate that in with the results? Guest guest
Tina, There just isn't any way around this. You have to be off of HC in all forms and off of anything that provides " adrenal support " for at least 2 weeks before doing the saliva test. If you aren't your test will be worthless. Val has tried looking at tests people have taken while on HC and found no rhyme or reason to how they come out. It just isn't something that can be adjusted for. If you think about it, you'll understand why. If you are taking HC, then your body needs to produce less cortisol, so there is absolutely no way to meaure how much cortisol your body is able to produce on it's own while taking a replacement HC. This is why we are always telling people to get the salvia tests before starting any HC. Right now I'm wishing I had pushed for an ACTH stim test because you can't take that while taking HC either, and it just isn't worth it for me to even attempt to go off of HC right now. Maybe after several months and my adrenal glands have a chance to heal a bit. Maybe then I'll be ready to try to wean down and see how it goes. So if you can't go the entire 2 weeks without any HC or adrenal support, then I wouldn't even bother with doing the salvia test. It would be a waste of time and money. Sorry to be the bearer of bad new. :-( Rie A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
