Guest guest
, What strength Ambien are you taking? Is is regular Ambien or Ambien CR (which comes in 6.25mg and 12.5mg)? Ambien does have a short half life (4hrs or less I think) but my husband rarely takes it because it does make him feel so bad and sluggish the next day. Guest guest
The regular Ambien comes in 5mg and 10mg and is oblong shaped. The Ambien CR is round and comes in 6.25mg and 12.5mg (different color for different strengths). I always used the regular 10mg Ambien and I ALWAYS just bit off about 1/3 to 1/2 and could take the remainder later if I woke up because once I had tried the entire 10mg at bedtime and it was very very hard to go to sleep and I didn't sleep very long. Guest guest
, I cannot tolerate that dizzy, drugged, whacked out feeling that some sleep meds give me. I have enough trouble with balance anyway. And if the meds do not product a good solid night's sleep (which for me they do not) I don't see the benefit, myself. I have gotten that nearly falling thing, too, and it scares me. Last thing I need is to fall. sol .. jasrich wrote: > We purposely did the regular strength Ambien so that I could take it > in the middle of the night which is when I have all of my trouble. Guest guest
, Oh, by the way, I had prescription for the generic ambien last summer and got 2 refills because I was stockpiling them even though I was not taking them right then. Well, when I tried the generic, it DID NOT WORK AT ALL for me. I got my husband to try it one night and he had a similar reaction (took a very long time to act and didn't last very long). So I went to the pharmacist in charge at Kroger and told her. Her reaction surprised me. She said that was not possible. She said the generic is the same as brand name Ambien. Anyway, I tried a couple more of them and then threw them in the trash. Now I always insist on BRAND NAME AMBIEN. All the difference in the world for me! Guest guest
My favorite now-retired local pharmacist did not like generics. He said some were ok, but many, if not most, were simply not equivalent to the brand name meds. I would prefer brand names for everything, but my drug benefit will not pay for them. Any drug that has a generic, I have to take the generic or forfeit any benefit payment on that med. That's right, I have to pay the entire cost of a brand name med, if there is a generic available. It really sucks. I honestly think I could pay all my medical and med expenses out of pocket for what I pay for insurance premiums. Of course in case of a mahor health catastrophe or hospitalization that would quickly outstrip the premiums in benefit. But still............It makes me nuts to have to pay, then be told what meds I can and cannot have. sol Delores Worley wrote: > Oh, by the way, I had prescription for the generic ambien last summer and > got 2 refills because I was stockpiling them even though I was not taking > them right then. Guest guest
What I would do is just purchase major medical and forget the rest and pay out of pocket for what you want. --- sol solbun@...> wrote: > My favorite now-retired local pharmacist did not > like generics.
