The first few days I was on Cortef my symptoms worsened - this was because my body was screaming for cortisol and once it got some, IT WANTED MORE! After several days of ramping up according to the schedule in the Files, the worsened symptoms subsided and I started feeling better!! > Also, what happens if I DONT stress dose, and I get up to about 20mg > like recommended? Your body will much better be able to handle stress! Don't worry about stress dosing - that is primarily for illness or a major life changing event. > > Is there ANY other way to tell when you're at your optimal dose > BESIDES taking temps? Yes, check your blood pressure sitting, then immediately standing. If the " standing " reading has risen from the " sitting " reading, you have sufficient cortisol. > Im still waiting to re-take the saliva test, and hopefully can before > my body completely gives out on me. If you plan to take a cortisol saliva test soon, then DON'T start Cortef or anything until after the test. You cannot properly test adrenals when on Cortef or anything like it. So do the test first, then post your labs, and people here will be able to interpret your labs and get you started toward healing. May I gently add that worrying/obsessing is a MAJOR low cortisol symptom and the sooner you get tested and treatment started you will notice this symptom improving. I did! Yeah, Ive turned into a major hypochondriac. How lond did it take to feel better? Some say they felt better within a few hours of taking it? Also, if I take it for a few days and the effects are awful, can I stop it without problems, as long as Im on a small enough dose? I dont want to trigger something worse happening? Do you think its helped you overall and been the answer for your adrenal fatigue, thyroid and sex hormones? I have all three problems, so Im trying SO hard to find the absoluet best approach to healing. THanks

I remember after a month or so I was able to rake leaves - something I could not have done for two years previous to Cortef! Found my optimal dose in about three months. Feel tons better now! > Also, if I take it for a few days and the effects are awful, can I > stop it without problems, as long as Im on a small enough dose? > I dont want to trigger something worse happening? You may feel worse if you start and then stop, because your adrenals will have been so happy to get it that they might balk at suddenly not getting it. But you won't die or damage anything. BUT once you begin you should ride out the few tough days, as you WILL get improvement. > Do you think its helped you overall and been the answer for your > adrenal fatigue, thyroid and sex hormones? They did not work at my stage (adrenal fatigue, maladapted, low reserves-might be Stage 5 - I never could figure that out). Once you get optimal on Cortef, you can start Armour thyroid because then your adrenals can better support the thyroid med. This is what I'm working on now - getting thyroid optimized. Then I deal with sex hormones as all of mine are low -Sharon > THanks >
