DH's temps slowly dropped till hitting about 1.5 grain. That's because

in the early stages, you are fighting your own thyroid by taking

Armour, and it is decreasing its output. After that, the Armour dose

starts becoming your total dose and you feel better with each increase.

thanks. mine have actually stayed pretty steady so far. if anyone

taking armour recalls when they first started seeing increase in temps

etc I'd really appreciate it

Barb,

Thanks for that post. I am now puzzling over whether this has been my

problem in not being able to increase Armour. As I have increased

(started slowly at 1/8 grain, then 1/4, then 1/2) my hypoT symptoms have

SOARED and my temps did not remain steady! Because of these things I

have pretty much stopped increasing the Armour (am at 1/2 grain still;

with 25mg HC). Should I just keep increasing Armour, regardless of

unsteady temps?? In other words, how do I get past this situation

without really messing up?

Also, does Armour completely take over--I thought my own thyroid would

continue producing some and Armour would just make up the difference?

Thanks,

Sharon

You might try a 2.5 HC increase, hold that for a few days and see if

your temps stabilize. Usually if you increase the Armour without

steady temps, it just stresses the adrenals and you have to go back

on your dose anyway.

My undertanding is that the Armour completely takes over, that's why

your TSH on Armour will be at .0X, if you're on a high enough dose.

Your body should sense the Armour, and then the TSH feedback loop

will tell your own thyroid, no, there's plenty of thyroid, don't make

anymore!
