Guest guest
For those familiar with Vegas - would you say the neighborhood of Stratosphere is unsafe?? A coworker of DJs just returned from Vegas and he was told to be careful up there at night. He didn't experience anything unsafe -but shared the cautions. Stratosphere is by far the cheapest - like half of the other places in the center strip. The others seem cheap - until you add the extra nightly fee for more than 2 people! Guest guest
I didn't really feel unsafe, however when we were there 2 years ago there was a little distance from that casino to the rest of the strip so there weren't quite as many people walking in that area? If you take the bus on the strip you don't have to walk that stretch. Guest guest
I am just returning to this group after a long absence and your message popped out at me because I live in Las Vegas. If you stay on the strip side of the property and use general tourist common sense you should be okay. However, don't get lost and wonder around on the back side of the Stratosphere. This is a very unsafe neighborhood (prostitutes, drug dealers, etc...). Also, I wouldn't travel North on the strip, just head up the street to all the other big hotels. I am not sure why you are visiting but if you are not renting a car, there are now a lot of ways to get around without having to walk miles and miles. Guest guest
Alissa- Thanks! We're just stopping as we drive thru to Costa Mesa because we have never been. We'll be staying 2 nights and 1 day. It will be the entire family so we'll be doing all the free stuff and only kid-friendly things. We'll have our car so we could stay a bit off-strip and drive over - but we kind of wanted to get the whole experience. We can definitely do without drug dealers and prostitutes though!
