FYI, there are several beaches close by. Newport Beach, the Newport and

Balboa Pier as well. Laguna is not much farther. The PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy)

runs up and down the coast line and the views are breathtaking. THere are

manay many parks as well. Also, with a handicapped plate or tag, parking is

free. Also, a lot of the beaches have beach wheelchairs that they will lend

you

as well.

Alright Casey,

Since you're a " native " what else would you recommend? We just spoke w/ some

people today who had been out in the same area and they recommended the

Legoland and some(LaBraya?) tar pits? Are those nearby? It's a bit

overwhelming for someone who's never been further west than Colorado!!!

Thanks in advance!

Corrie,

I've never been to Legolnd but my nephews loved it (they were 7 & 9 at the

time, but my brother (53) loved it too.)

The tar pits are basically just a park, unless you are into dinos or just

looking at a pool of tar tis no biggie. I'm not sure how are they are from

Costa Mesa tho.. The tar pits are almost downtown LA. My kids loved Universal

Studios.. it's almost as expensive as Disney.. but a blast..

I wish the conf had been further north, like San Francisco, then I could give

you all some really great ideas. I live about 100 miles NE of SF and grew up in

Sacramento.

Here's a web page that has tons of info on stuff to do from there, where it's

at..

I'd like to hear the San Francisco hints. We'll be spending a few days

there after the conference. Thanks!
