Guest guest
I've had this problem for many years, but recently it's coming back. Less hair loss in the shower, and my scalp is not as visible as it was. My texture is still not great, though, but I think better. Not so tangled at the ends, and not so straw like. I just started treating my adrenals and thyroid, so don't feel the regrowth can be attributed to that. I have been been fairly faithful in supplementing w/ biotin and evening primrose, so maybe it's that? btw, does anyone know if EPO is goitrogenic?? I've read yes and no, but haven't found a definitive answer. I know I'm not making this up cos my hairdresser even mentioned it. Just head hair though which doesn't make sense. > > I'm just curious to know how many other women out there with adrenal > fatigue are suffering from hair loss. All in all its like whispy baby hair and very grey too that doesn't hold colour very well. My mother and grandmother's hair was the same but at least I do have more than they did probably cos of the Armour and Pred. Pam
Guest guest
My hair loss got bad on Synthroid (could see my scalp it was so thin); switched to Armour and it improved somewhat. But I didn't know my dose was still too low and that my adrenals needed support. I was on 1.5 grain and when I raised to 2 grains, the hair loss greatly diminished. Much less hair on the bathroom floor and hairdresser mentioned that not only can you not see my scalp anymore, but the texture is thicker. Labs still show me low so am now further raising to 2.5 grains. So yes, if you support your adrenals so you can get to your optimal thyroid dosage, your hair will grow back. Guest guest
I know of one woman who was treating her adrenals but it was not until she treated for low aldosterone that her hair began to grow back. Guest guest
Hi Barb what did you do to support your adrenals in addition to switching to Armour to improve your hair condition? Or was switching to Armour enough? I have had hair loss for over 10 years only been treated for the last 3 or so years. My current doc is not a fan of Armour but I think if I told him I am sick of the hair loss already he might switch me (I was on Armour last year and my old doctor put me on double my dose by accident so I had a horrible time, but nonetheless my hair was better than on Synthroid!) My sodium was flagged low but I still retain water and I get very dizzy upon standing BUT my BP is high. Lilly
Guest guest
1. Get your cortisol tested at canaryclub.org. 2. Support your adrenals if your cortisol is low - in mild cases, vitamins, rest, and 's adrenal rebuilder work - in more severe cases, you will need Isocort or HC 3. Once your temps average within .2 daily, switch to Armour. 4. Raise Armour till optimal, i.e., FT4 mid-range and FT3 at top of range or higher. 5. Use other indicators too: basal underarm temp on day 2-3 of your period should be between 97.8-98.2, daily temp average should be around 98.6 during those days. You are correct that your hair will never be optimal on Synthroid. When I first switched over to Armour, the hair loss lessened, but only when I supported my adrenals did it start growing back. And mine have been dormant for 10 years too! When I asked my doc about the hair loss, he told me that even women have pattern baldness, just like men, and my doc was bald! Well, I had a family reunion a year later and noticed that every single female relative had hair, so I figured it was a thyroid thing and made the switch to Armour. I would have aldosterone tested before even trying Florinef as it could further raise BP. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
