Thanks Lynda,

What does Vitamin E doo?? I have heard good things about that, but

didn't know what exactly its used for and what it benefits??

Do you have Hashi's?? I'm just worried now about taking iodoral

with having thyroid antibodies. If I didn't have this problem, I'd

do the iodoral in a heartbeat as I really think it would help me

from everything I've heard and read about it! But I'm just

concerned from what some of the others have said (and what I've

heard in other groups) that it could worsen my Hashi's.......

Vitamin E is an antioxidant. I wouldn't shy away from taking iodine

though, yes I have Hashis but with Hashis you get swings of hypo then

hyper until eventually the thyroid is burned out and you remain hypo.

Did you notice more flare-ups when you were taking iodine?? Are you

still taking iodine? And what brand did you use and how much did

you take?? Do you use it under your doc's supervision? Sorry about

all the questions.........

I don't remember having any " hyper " swings except once, and it was

absolutely terrible, but it was before I even knew I had a thyroid

problem. It happened after we had lost a baby boy at 5 months

along. I didn't know I had a thyroid problem at all, and I thought

I was having a heart attack, I couldn't hardly eat or swallow, it

was terrible, and I just remember wondering if I was going to die.

I had never experienced anything like that before. And at that, it

still was not diagnosed! The doc sent me for upper GI and tests

which showed reflux and put me on RX for that. It was months later

I found out I had a thyroid problem, and putting the pieces

together, I now realize it was most likely a " hyper " swing that I

was having at that time. UGH!!

Ha! I don't do anything under my doc's supervision, the less he

knows what I take the better.

I didn't notice any flare ups while taking iodine, I took it for about

6 months (iodoral) but decided I couldn't afford it anymore.

I was dxd about 20 years ago but have probably had thyroid problems

for at least 40 years

LOL!!! I hear ya! Did you ever worry about something happening

like some of the other ladies said happened to others with

Hashi's?? I have taken " liquid kelp iodine " before and didn't

notice any worsening of symptoms or anything. But then since

reading more about iodine and Iodoral, it seems like that isn't the

same type of iodine and doesn't absorb as well. So I don't know if

it helped at all.

Well that is encouraging to hear you didn't notice any bad flare ups

while on it and having Hashi's. Maybe I will try some and just

start out slowly and see what happens.
