Guest guest
Hi Barbara, That is great news. has TOD every day with her for 1 hour. The first year was 2 hours a day. She pulls out and works with her privately most of the time and pushes in with classroom only part of the time. is in a district program, so the team knows very little sign. The good news is was evaluated by Perkins earlier this year and they have made recommendations for goals etc. The bad news is we havent been able to incoporate them into s IEP yet due to egos etc! However, our IEP team is meeting again after school starts in September to re-do the goals, since it will be a new team. Also, Perkins is coming in to train in the fall! So I see Martha suggested you contact her. That is great, they are the best! Are you going to the conference? Perkins will be there and I see they are doing several workshops. I would love to meet you finally! Guest guest
You can ask that the school district provide a hearing itinerant who is a teacher of the deaf and will work with the classroom staff to ensure that 's needs are being met and his IEP is being adherred to. The Itinerant will also check any audiological equipment and make sure everyone knows how to use it and care for it. He/she will also work with either in class or pull-out on any IEP goals that apply to his hearing loss. The hearing itinerant will have the same education as a self-contained classroom teacher of the deaf but will travel between schools to service deaf/hard of hearing students only. It makes a nice bridge between the special education and regular education departments to educate school staff on the needs of a student with a hearing loss. > > Hi everyone.
