Guest guest
thanks very much for your post, . This doc, fwiw, comes highly recommended from STTM. And highly recommended elsewhere in the bioidentical world. NOT saying STTM is off base in listing this doctor. Just that i did my best in getting the doc's name from STTM and contacting local compounding pharmacies and asking who they recommend. > > >>Stage 7 when I posted my lab > results last week), my doctor wants me on 5 mg HC (Cortef) for six > months. Guest guest
Geez, 5 mg..is that like trying to plug the dam with chewing gum? I have read in more than one book on adrenal fatigue that you need to dose up to 15-20mg and hold it for a while, then attempt to wean down monitoring for a return of problems. (I just finished three books on Adrenal fatigue this month) You could try starting off on the 5mg and go back and tell him it's wearing off a few hours later...you feel real good for that first three hours after you take the 5mg but then blek! Bring in the dosing protocol from STTM and from Dr.Shomon and who ever else might be credible and see if he is willing to give you more. If he's not then order some Isocort or HC and supplement it. I also believe the dosing for Cortef is in the patient package insert...which might be helpful. Got to webMd and sites like that to look for " credible " info he may accept showing that more than 5mg is needed. This is the package insert for Cortef from pfizer which says under " dosing " that higher doses may be needed in the beginning and it's too be doses in small increments and blah blah...it also only comes in 20mg or higher... http://www.pfizer.com/files/products/uspi_cortef.pdf So he is not following the manufacturers dosing either. > > > > > > >>Stage 7 when I posted my lab > > results last week), my doctor wants me on 5 mg HC (Cortef) for six > > months. Guest guest
There are NO doctors recommended form STTM just lists of places to begin a search for one. And even then the admonishment to BE CAREFUL is there everywhere! I knwo and work with the owner of that site, in fatc she owns this list as well, but you STILL have to do alot of work to find a doctor even with the best guidelines as there simply is NO sure way to find a doc that knows about this stuff. Believe me, I have been to WAY too many docs before starting self treatment. I am going to a new one soon but not particularly for thyroid and adrenals which I feel I know better than he does.LOL -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Jada, your post is tremendously helpful, thank you!! I had no idea regarding manufacturer's recommended dosage. When i went to the pharmacist, he was v. confused by the 5mg request as he only carries 20mg. No wonder!! And then he's told to give me five refills (for six months of 5mg dosage). I may need to change docs and start over. At least I have my recent labs. I also am going to order a test for thyroid as this same doc isn't interested in looking at my thyroid function. Good analogy about chewing gum and dam. It is frustrating for me to go to a reputable doc and get side tracked already!! I just got started! :-) > > > > > > >>Stage 7 when I posted my lab > > > results last week), my doctor wants me on 5 mg HC (Cortef) for six > > > months.
