Guest guest
What you are describing are classic adrenal fatigue symptoms. You need to have your cortisol levels tested - the 4 times a day saliva test is best and you can order your own if your doc won't order it Lynda I'm just beginning... > Hello Everyone, > > I also feel hypersensitive to sounds, I can't explain why. Guest guest
Hi , Hang in there gal. You are not the only one that is going through this. It hit me in July of 06 & I have gained 58 lbs in that time. I have been treating my thyroid with not much success. Now I am treating my adrenals too & hoping to see some success soon as far as the weight gain goes. Please post your thyroid test results if you have not already & someone can help you. As I read somewhere " normal " is a setting on the dryer not a good reading of thyroid tests. Guest guest
You described perfectly how a person becomes hypoadrenal/hypothyroid-- by simply trying to do too much! If you have been overexercising and undereating to try to control your weight, that actually only further breaks down your metabolism and further destroys your adrenals. So what can you do now? 1. Order your saliva labs at canaryclub.org as others suggested. 2. Start eating a moderate protein, low carb, HIGH fat diet. Yes, contrary to what you've been brainwashed to think, fat will actually help you lose weight by making you feel fuller, so you won't get so hungry between meals. It'll also help tone down your insulin resistance, which is just part of why you keep gaining weight. The other reason is because you're probably hypothyroid. But that cannot be addressed until you get saliva cortisol and more thyroid labs done. But at least you can start eating right. The Rosedale Diet was extremely helpful to me and has great olive oil sauce recipes you can put on fish, chicken, etc. You should read and understand the concepts he lays forth in the beginning of the book, about why fat is good and why low fat makes us fat. 3. STOP exercising. This will only make your adrenals worse. Rest will go a long way in helping you heal. 4. You should read Adrenal Fatigue by , because it describes you to a T. Then you will not feel alone. 5. As far as vitamins/supplements, you can start taking these 4x/day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime): Vit C with bioflavonoids, magnesium citrate, and pantothenic acid/B5 (no more than 1500 mg/day). Also one Vit E, a Vit B mix, and selenium daily, and chromium 200 mg before your meals. There are other herbs you can add, but only AFTER you've had your saliva testing so they don't skew your results. Good luck, Barb " ashley.taylor777 " wrote: > > Hello Everyone, > > I'm not really sure how this works, a friend of mine recommended I > join to see if I can get some information from all of you who have > been dealing with what I think I am going through currently. Guest guest
You're welcome. I forgot the most basic recommendation to everyone here: sea salt. Adrenals need sea salt to function well. Celtic sea salt is the best and can be found at health food stores. You'd start by mixing 1/4 tsp in a glass of water in the morning and drinking that. Some people do this twice a day, others work up to 1/2 tsp twice a day, others even more. I like 1/8 tsp with every glass throughout the day, so whatever works best for you! Guest guest
I have Redmond's Sea Salt and it seems when I start drinking it in my water my face looks puffy, my hands feel swollen and I retain water and I wonder then if it's ok to be doing this. Then I stop using it. Do I not need it if it does this to me? I feel much better than I did a year ago, but recent saliva tests indicate that my cortisol levels are high in the morning and just below normal the rest of the day. Any suggestions? Guest guest
Oh boy, I'm totally on board with Barb...your symptoms were EXACTLY like mine. I couldn't handle music, nay noise, even my husband eating ceral (poor guy). My biggest problem was insomnia (and still is). Fat is how the hormones are carried...hormones are made from cholesterol so make sure you eat good/non-trans fats. Eggs and avocado are my favorite forms of fat. Along with coconut oil (YES! coconut oil), olive oil. If you're attracted to sugar, try like heck to cut it out completely. that's one of the worst things you can do. I know from my own experience, i was drinking sugared sodas like they were going out of style. and i never drank soda before (always hated it.) if you're a coffee drinker, try to cut way back or to none at all. I could NOT find a doctor to treat my adrenals, even though i knew they were shut down. In the past, my urine tests showed low /no cortisol and i was treated with cortef for a SHORT time but nothing else (no supplments or long term cortef), which put me right back in adrenal fatigue. The BEST thing i ever did for myself was read 's book, as Barb mentioned below. I started on those EXACT supplements. don't try to find a multi. Buy them individually and try to get good absorbing ones, maybe w/o glutton (you don't need glutton...i'm not anti-glutton, but why put it in you if you don't need it)...I didn't have an ND or MD at the time to help me, but this book kept me in the holding pattern until i could find someone. doing the supplements ALONE managed to have people start telling me i looked good again. I was haggered, run down, fat, exhausted all the time. I had started looking like " me " again. Still not sleeping on my own (w/o a sleep aid). but at least parts of me were returning. While you're doing your supplements, and while you wait or look for new healthcare coverage, try to find a ND or MD who knows adrenal and thyroid disorders. cut out ANYTHING not absolutely necessary in life. go to school, go to work, eat, take supplements, READ (this especially helps to calm), and go to bed. Say NO to people asking you to do things where you feel obligated. Don't go to social events for a while. Tell friends you don't feel well and have been doing too much and just need to chill for a while. They'll understand. Put your health first. Rest. Indulge yourself in rest. Make rest the thing you want to over- achieve on. Don't overstimulate yourself for a while. I have a convertible car... I always loved having the top down. I still can't " deal " with the stimulus of having it down yet. (not like me) but since i've been healing, my husband can listen to music again, eat his ceral etc... After your saliva tests come back, you'll know what you may or may not need to do in terms of adrenal glands and thyroid. Good luck! > > > > Hello Everyone, > > > > I'm not really sure how this works, a friend of mine recommended I > > join to see if I can get some information from all of you who have > > been dealing with what I think I am going through currently. Guest guest
Hi , I was just about to write a similiar message to this group. I am a wife and mother of 2 little ones and have been experiencing what seems like horrible adrenal fatigue related symptoms. This is what has been going on in the last month: I am always crying , EXTREMELY irritable, sleep poorly but not as badly as you, and can't seem to find pleasure in a single thing. I am currently taking 75mcg of Synthroid and am starting to wonder if that medicine is actually doing me more harm than good (been on it since last September. My current doc took me off Armour and put me onto Synthroid). My hair has been falling out for the last 10 years and never seems to get better, but it has been BAD this last month. I have had pretty bad/cystic acne on and off since puberty, again it's been acting up this past month. I am not gaining weight but exercising alot just to " feel better " and I have actually gotten 2 injuries in the last 2 months. I am so miserable and I know my family hates me, but I dont' know what to do! I am waiting for my saliva test to come in the mail and will post my results then, but I just know something chemical is going on with my body. Please keep in touch and let me know how things go!
