Guest guest
Yes low cortisol cancause this. Unoess oyu are miserabel wi th it I would try to wait ti out as thta is the onyl way oyu will get accurate testing, but if it gets too bad ot stand some HC cream may help on the itchy spots and will do the least damage to the testing. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://www.seewell4less.com/Valspage.htm Medical Alert Bracelets
Guest guest
Whole body hives that you describe are sometimes caused by an allergy to Yellow 5 food color, which are found in anything yellow, yellow- orange, or yellow-green, like lemon cookies, Sunny Delite, or pickles and Mountain Dew. It's in MANY processed foods, and in some of the Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter patties girl scout cookies. If you can remember what you ate all day Thursday, that might help you pinpoint the allergen. My Chinese take-out place uses it to color their soups (NO SOUP FOR ME!), and it's even in the noodles and crunchy things they give you. Cheetos, jello, vanilla pudding, the list goes on forever. So if that IS your allergen, you just have to read food labels to get it out of your system. And yes, low cortisol and low thyroid both contribute to allergic reactions, in my case, hives and asthma. Both have diminished greatly as I've been able to raise thyroid. You are wise to try to hold out though, so you can get the proper testing and then start treatment. Once I had a breakout over the summer and sitting in a cold swimming pool was helpful, but was only temporary. Sometimes the Benadryl knocking you out is a blessing, cause the itching drove me insane. Guest guest
>I had a similar thing happen to me last July. Doctor wasn't much use. After a lot of web searches, I read that dehydration can cause hives...and most Americans are chronically dehydrated. I literally flooded my system for 3 days with water (a big glass every waking hour) and within 2 days, it was pretty much gone. It's worth a shot -- it isn't expensive or difficult, it may help but it won't hurt you. About the worst thing that can happen is that you'll end up going to the bathroom alot. Guest guest
Hyland's Hives Formula will usually stop most hives, and b/c it's homeopathic it's not going to interfere w/ any testing I wouldn't think. > > > > > > Thursday evening I began getting a rash on my face which has gotten > > > worse and worse and now (Sat afternoon) is all over my face and neck > > > (and scalp too I suspect from the itching). Guest guest
Sorry to say it didn't help me worth spit. Still, worth a try though. sol biglovepress wrote: > Hyland's Hives Formula will usually stop most hives, and b/c it's > homeopathic it's not going to interfere w/ any testing I wouldn't think. > > >

I'll drink more water too as suggested. I'm in the habit of drinking water all day regularly (the whole " it helps you lose weight " thing - yeah, right) but a little more can't hurt. Thinking back, I was drinking some V8Splash Wed. night and Thursday morning and usually don't drink much fruit juice (but have been having a small bit each morning for the last few weeks). I wonder if it was the yellow dye or possibly the fruit juice overload that triggered it. I so much appreciate all the wonderful advice and support. So far my face/neck is not getting any worse (but not getting better either - soo dry and itchy now). I think I can hang in there till my endo appt. Hopefully this will help my case to get more testing and not hinder it. It's nice to have a place to come and ask questions and vent where people understand what an adrenal gland is. I'm really struggling with trying to get friends to understand why I'm cranky, irritable, tired, forgetful, etc... etc... and nobody knowing (or caring) what the heck I'm talking about when I mention low cortisol.
