Guest guest
erika had coanal atresia surgery 5 times and a dilitation 2 more time. her ENT told me the average is 4 times. as they get bigger the bones get bigger and the hole has a better chance of staying open. it also helped to do it through the palate and to keep the stints in longer. Guest guest
Hi Trish, My son Sam had 3 choanal atresia repairs: one when he was 3 days old, one when he was 2 months old, and one more when he was 6 months old. Since then (a whole year now!) his nose has been wide open. I understand several surgeries is the norm for babies, and once they get older and growth of those cells slows, it stays open longer. But no one will guarantee me that it's permanent and he won't need another surgery... but, here's hoping! Let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Trish, Kennedy has had 6 operations for choanal atresia. Seems like some kids get lucky the first or second times and for others, it's a struggle. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Trish, My daughter is 3years old and is about to have her sixth choanal atresia repair. The last one was October last year. We are hoping this will be it as the growth of skin is on on the right inside. The left side has stayed opened since last surgery. Hope this helps.
