Guest guest
Hello from Germany, today we had following question from a CHARGE mother: " Is it normal for a CHARGE child to have a very small head. We have a boy that is now 9 years old. And he has the same sized head like his brother with 2 years. " Do you have any informations about that ? Thanks + Jonas from Germany www.charge-syndrom.de
Guest guest
Hi , How have you all been? In ref. to question of small head size. My daughter (age 22) was diagnosed with microcephaly at birth. The doctors watched and measured for growth, and by age 2 they had said it was ok. (meaning that her skull had grown to a predesignated point, was my assumption from what they said-or didn't say.) From observation, I believe her head is still smaller than " normal " . There is no way for me to specifically say what effects it may be responsible for. Even though babies have large heads in relation to their bodies, the Mom should ask a doctor about the 9 year old. I'm sure other Chargers have had the diagnosis of microcephaly, although I did not see it mentioned in the Charge manual. (I just checked brain structure and " presentation " list). My daughter, , has many involvements, but is doing well, is generally a charming girl, (lol) and will be taking college courses in the fall. Take care, in Ma. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
Guest guest
Hi , My son’s head is on the smaller side, it always was, but he is small. His brain must be very big though, because he is a very smart kid. The neurologist told me a long time ago that just because your head is small, doesn’t necessarily mean that intelligence is lacking. I can vouch for that. Debbie Matasker mom to w/CHARGE 10 yrs, 12, andra 8 Re: Head Size / Question from Germany Hi , How have you all been? In ref. to question of small head size. Guest guest
Hi , and Debbie, thanks for your answers. Tobias (the boy we are talking about) has a head size from 19,09 inches. If you ask me - very small. But he is a very smart boy, indeed. The doctors are not able to say anything. They advised her to ask the CHARGE Foundation in the US ;-) Right now we are very bussy with our German CHARGE Foundation. We had our first meeting in June with 20 family´s. Now we created a flyer and a poster and a logo. Very much work. Have a look at www.charge-syndrom.de an you will see our new logo (written by a CHARGE girl). yours and Jonas (3 years / CHARGE) www.charge-syndrom.de > > Hi , > > How have you all been?
