Guest guest
Belinda, I wouldn't pay a comment like that any mind at all - you ARE legally blind, they DO have alternate seating for people with special needs, that's what they're there for. I make sure Kennedy gets the most out of every experience and I hope she does the same for herself when she gets older! > > I am sooo angry and annoyed at the moment > > I was on this forum i go to, and mentioned that i had rang ticketmaster > about trying to get a good seat for a concert because im legally blind and > they said they would help me. > > Now the admin of this forum posts something like are you just using your > disability to say you need a better seat, i am against people using their > disability to their advantage, i hope you can understand where im coming > from i have a disability tmyself. > > So now im feeling like i dont KNOW if i need the better seat or not, i > know > i can see better up close but i have nothing to compare it to since ive > never been able to see 100 percent. > > why dont people GET IT > > its like another time my friend got all shitty with me that i got free > public transport > > Belinda > >
Guest guest
Hi Belinda, I am a bit deaf, as you probably realized with my hearing aids. We " use " that to get close theater seats whenever we go to a play. You know it really helps me to be able to hear clearly. We also have disability license plates on the car. We use those to park close to buildings when is with us. I think this is all about obtaining reasonable accommodations so that a disability does not handicap you in experiencing and living in the world. You go for those good seats! Tim accusations of " misusing your disabilty " I am sooo angry and annoyed at the moment I was on this forum i go to, and mentioned that i had rang ticketmaster about trying to get a good seat for a concert because im legally blind and they said they would help me. Now the admin of this forum posts something like are you just using your disability to say you need a better seat, i am against people using their disability to their advantage, i hope you can understand where im coming from i have a disability tmyself. So now im feeling like i dont KNOW if i need the better seat or not, i know i can see better up close but i have nothing to compare it to since ive never been able to see 100 percent. why dont people GET IT its like another time my friend got all shitty with me that i got free public transport Belinda
Guest guest
Hi Belinda, My son just turned 15. When we went to Disney after the Charge conference in Florida two years ago, we got accomodations. I didn't feel guilty. But now that is using a white-tipped cane, even tho he not legally blind, I am feeling more guilty. I have been told that when we go to Disney in California, we can get even more accomodations because of it. I think it is totally within your (our) rights to advocate for ourselves and those we love and care about. There will always be people who disagree with you about something. Stand your ground and don't feel that you have to explain yourself. State the fact, I need this " accomodation " . end of story. To all of you out there in Chargeland, hello. I have not been on the list for quite a long time. Things got crazy and it just slipped to the backburner. With my husband Matt on the Board of Directors I've kept up with what's been going on, plus going to the conferences. Well, I am back. I love the yahoo format for the digest. It's probably been in place forever, but as I said it has been a looooooooooooong time since I've been here. Janet Homeschooling Mom to 15(CHaRGE, ADD), 15 (ADHD, anxiety, and nne 10 (ADHD) mom to Marissa 16 (and Debi, 23, who is all grown up and living on her own.) Guest guest
I totally understand. I had called ticketmaster one time for an event we wanted our son to SEE. He is legally blind in one eye and sever low vision in the other. They gave me handicap seats, which by the way are too far away for anyone with low vision to see ANYTHING. All my son saw was the lights! I could have done that at home! I know ask for and pay for front row seats when there is something that we are going to. DO NOT doubt yourself. You have every right to sit close so you are able to see! , Randy & Garland (5.5) Goodwin ---- _Belinda _ belinda83au@...> wrote: ============= I am sooo angry and annoyed at the moment I was on this forum i go to, and mentioned that i had rang ticketmaster about trying to get a good seat for a concert because im legally blind and they said they would help me. Guest guest
They have that put there for people who need it so why shouldn't you use it when you know you need it. Don't let people like that get to you they are just....you can fill in the blanks. Don't stress about it and have fun at your show!! Guest guest
Belinda-- You did the right thing, asking for what you needed in order to have the same experience as everyone else. Nobody who doesn't have the same set of challenges knows just how hard it is to do what most take for granted. I found that at Disney World most of the handicap seats are at the back of the theater. Eddie and I left more than one show because he ended up just sitting in the dark, without the chance to enjoy what was going on. I'll be more specific in California. joanne > ... Guest guest
I so understand that frustration. That person that made the comments was probably misguided and though maby as nice of a person as they may have been, they just dont understand what its like. That dosnt excuse what she said by any means. If you need a seat that alowes you to see and hear better then thats what you need. Who is anyone elce to say what you can and cant do with your dissability... and I have to thank you for putting that one in my head You go girl!
