Guest guest
Yuka, we were originally told we had very little home care coverage when erika was first coming home. as it turns out it states in our plan that as " medically necessary " was the key phrase. Now, as long as we can provide medical necessity, ie; doctors letters etc. our insurance is much more reasonable and actually has been very good. cathie, mom to erika ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
Yuka, By California Children's Fund, do you mean California Children's Services? That is whom we used for years. We were also tapped into an agency in the SF Bay Area called Golden Gate Regional Center, but that was 20 years ago, so no telling if they are still in 'business'. -- --- Yuka Persico yuka@...> wrote: > Dear List- > > A dear darling five week old boy with CHARGE is nearing the time he > may be discharged from the hospital. Guest guest
Dear List- A dear darling five week old boy with CHARGE is nearing the time he may be discharged from the hospital. The parents have been told by the case manager for their health insurance (PPO) that they are only covered for $ 2,000 for equipment, which would only last two months. They have already been rejected by California Children's Fund. I realize there are probably gaps in my information that would help in giving support - but any information of how to navigate and enlighten insurance, where to seek support, what other agencies to seek out would be deeply appreciated. Any questions which would help in giving advice I will forward as well as suggestions ) THANK YOU !!!! Yuka
Guest guest
Yuka, My son, is now 25 years old, and some things do seem like only yesterday that they happened! Now he's working, driving, and going to community college (occasionally, as the mood strikes), still not living on his own, but that is next on the list! -- --- Yuka Persico yuka@...> wrote: > Dear - > > Thank you for your reply. Guest guest
Yuka, If the parents are like us.. make too much to meet low income requirments.. there are other programs.. CCS for one.. we can qualify if the medical needs exceed a certain percent of net income, there is also a MediCal program to help, also Regional Center..I'm not up on most but I do know someone that does , California Deaf Blind Services (I'll put contact info at the end). The parents can get a hold of Jackie, and she will give them the contact info on the closest Family Service Provider in their area. Great support for the family and they do know CHARGE, have info on local agencies that can help. Here's Jackie's contact info: Jackie Kenley, Family Specialist California Deaf-Blind Services San Francisco State University-Pacific Plaza 1600 Holloway San Francisco, CA 94132-4201 FAX 1 ext 3 (in CA only) Casey PS: Brown is part of CDBS ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ It's here! Guest guest
They should also look into having their child declared " institutionally deemed " for Medi-Cal. See here: http://www.dds.cahwnet.gov/Title17/SectionView.cfm?Section=50247.htm This means that the parents income will not be used to determine if their child is eligible. Unfortunately, they make you apply for medi-cal as a family first. > > Dear List- > > A dear darling five week old boy with CHARGE is nearing the time he may be discharged from the hospital.
