Guest guest
I am wondering of others here with severe adrenal problems react really badly to foods with only a small amount of sugar in it? I thought that with treatment I might be able to get away with a food once a day that has a small amount of sugar but I always get almost immediate muscle pains and aches and a complete inability to walk for more than 10 minutes without going completely hypoglycemic. Even fruit like 1/2 apple or some pineapple will do this too even though I add in protein. Yesterday I had a very small piece of cheesecake with no base to it, just the cream mixture and it wasn't that sweet but when I took the dog out about 45 minutes later I was hurting all over and developed a very bad hypo attack after only 10 minutes. I was so dizzy and had to push some food down mean really quickly but it really stirred me up. I have noticed this effect of any slight sweet food making me unable to walk and bad muscle pains for quite some time and don't really understand why I cannot tolerate even a small amount of sugar just once daily. I do think my adrenals are at almost s' level but it is more likely to be a Hypopituitary problem because my doctor thinks I had mild Sheehan's syndrome before I had a tennis ball served right into the back of my head with severe force which probably further damaged the HPA axis. I am low in all hormones except progesterone and post menopausal for which I take 0.75mg estrogel daily. Also I take 2 grains Armour plus 25 thyroxine but very easily go hyper when I add in just a bit more Armour which I have done since 7 March but symptoms of hyper since last Wednesday. Today I have only taken my thyroxine and Pred/Florinef and will leave off Armour until tomorrow and then take 1 grain on waking and maybe another dose after lunch if necessary to try and get the T3 down. Is this reaction to any sugar common even when we are taking steroids? Thanks Pam

Guest guest
> > The muscle pain sounds more liek hypthyroid to me. > Hi Val No with me its a definite hyperthyroid symptom along with the sweating and excess adrenaline that gives me the dizzy turns. I get it everytime I try to raise Armour to a bit more than 2 grains so definitely won't do it anymore! Luckily betablockers settle it down a bit but I need to take them several times a day to keep things under control but my muscles are still very sore.
