Guest guest
Ramiro, There has been a gene identified where mutations on that gene are the cause of CHARGE - the CHD7 gene on chromosome 8. This just happened in 2004. There are some kids we KNOW have CHARGE but aren't testing positive for the CHD7 mutations, this is likely because there might be more than one gene/area responsible for CHARGE, it just hasn't been found yet. > > wow, 76 reasons not to eat anything sweet, I love chocolate and I eat it > since little, my wife don't like chocolate. Guest guest
Hey , I read this article this morning. Wow! I didn't know that sugars can cause so many health problems. Cuz, I only thought it'll make you all hyper crazy, give cavities too! I also thought that it get rid of your vitamins and minerals inside our bodies too, right? Yeah, sometime when I can't find anything to eat, or don't have enough money for something, then I tend to by something sweet ya know. You know my friend Marilyn? I'm sending this article to her, so she can read it. I noticed that whenever I have something sweet, I get very hyper and act crazy and stupid too! I know that none of my friends, not even my mom (what the heck, I mean almost no one!) like it when I acted like that! Cuz, the sugar take out all of my energy in my body! Even caffine from Star Buck too! I guess it's a Charge thing? Do you think so? I'm trying my best to stay away from sugar, I'm trying to eat more fruits and vegetables ya know (I know I got swallowing problems, but there are some of them I can swallow alright). Thanks for sending it out. My mom like it too. Anyway, see ya guys at the conference! (I'll be flying back to the Conference here with and Sally, I'm gonna leave to visit them next Saturday morning, yay!) Guest guest
Hello Ramiro, I know what you mean about chocolate! I like it too and eat it from time to time. The list of ways sugar can impact health are a reminder to try to eat other things including more fresh, local, or organic fruits and vegetables. The fact that people often eat something with sugar in it, and then don't feel hungry to eat something more healthy, leads to problems, I think. Most of us eat some sugar at some point. I used to drink cola all the time. Then I started drinking diet cola. My older daughter kept giving me information about the harmful chemicals in the diet cola. It was shocking to read the things that I was drinking. Then it dawned on me that every cola I drank kept me from eating something healthy in its place. It took me a long time, but I finally decreased the cola and don't drink it often at all now. I drink organic iced tea or organic coffee, but not all the time. But, like you I do love chocolate. :-) I found some organic chocolate bars and cocoa that are delicious! But sometimes I even eat chocolate when it is not organic. I think it is very positive and it offers hope that by doing something as simple as eating in a healthy way, we can impact our health for the better. wendy Mom to Kendra, CHARGE, 20 years old, , 26 years old, and Camille, 29 years old Re: sugar effects on health wow, 76 reasons not to eat anything sweet, I love chocolate and I eat it since little, my wife don't like chocolate. Guest guest
hahaha, you're hilarious. I'll tell you, I'd like to be around you no matter what you ate. Kendra and Curt and I walked two miles this morning. One mile to the DONUT shop, and one mile back!! LOL You can imagine what we bought at the donut shop. Do as I say, not as I do! :-) (about the donuts that is.) Walking's fine. wendy P.S. the slogan on the posters at the donut shop says: With a donut in each hand, anything's possible PPS. Guest guest
Hey Chipper, IIt is interesting that you have such a dramatic reaction to sugar. Although it is very difficult to avoid sugar, sometimes one can find really good alternatives. In general, while junk types of food do have a lot of calories and fat, they don't necessarily help a person to gain the kind of weight they would like to have. Their effect can be more damaging to the body. Did you see the movie 'Super Size Me'? It is enough to make you not want junk food ever again! I think many people, not only people with CHARGE, can have a negative reaction to sugar. Some people see the reaction right away, as you do, and others may experience a change in their immune status over time. Some people may have both experiences. I'm glad that there are some fruits and vegetables that you can eat without any problems. Take it easy. It will be great to see you and everyone at the conference in two weeks. If we bring a swim 'noodle' to the conference, do you want to try it out?? :-) Re: sugar effects on health Hey , I read this article this morning. Wow! Guest guest
Oh, - What a relief to know you aren't perfect!!!!!! :-) Donuts are my downfall. We have a diner-type place here that makes them fresh every morning. I can get 2 donuts and a huge coffee to go for $1.05! Ridiculous! It's my sinful treat before an out-of-town meeting. Guest guest
Oh that's sweet, Michele! Of course, the *I'm not perfect*, is the biggest understatement I've heard in a long while. Your diner sounds like the best place to start preparing for your out-of-town meetings. What an AMAZING price for 2 donuts and coffee. Maybe you could sneak a few of those 'fresh every morning' treats in your suitcase as you take off for California. We'll all be waiting for your van to pull up to the hotel. Guest guest
They wouldn't be fresh after our long drive - and they wouldn't exist because my family would devour a box of donuts!!
