Guest guest
This is just my opinion, but it seems that when you start on HC, your body starts really gulping up any thyroid hormone you have....and you can go hypo pretty quickly. It seems it is the HYPO that causes the weight gain, and not the HC. It's just the coincidence of starting the HC first. And since it is so fast, I would assume it is water weight, as one can not gain fat pounds so quickly. My dd was on HC for about a month or two before she started taking t3 and she BALOONED. Once she got on the t3, she lost that puffy, water retention look quite quickly, while staying on the HC. I had a similar experience. But I knew it was water weight, not fat weight, and it went away once I was close to optimized. Naffy > > > > Has anyone else gained weight on Hydrocort? > > > > Did you find out why? Guest guest
You can gain weight on HC for two reasons. First it will uncover hidden hypothyroid symptoms. When your cortils is brought to normal levels it will reveal just HOW hypo you really are and weight gain fro hypo is the result until you bring up the thyroid levels. Second if you take too much HC it will cause fluid retention whicvh will cause weight gain. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

Guest guest
Oh I can think of one more reason. I have to EAT every four hours to buffer my stomach or else the HC feels like it's giving me an ulcer. So I end up eating more than I was before. I've gotten it figured out pretty well now though that eating certain things work better than others so I'm not having to eat as much as I was when I first started. Wish I had one of those cast iron stomachs! Mark > > You can gain weight on HC for two reasons. First it will uncover hidden > hypothyroid symptoms.
