Guest guest
What is considered a low enough dose of niacin to do the test with? If one is " undermethylated " what to do about it? sol P.S. I'd like to try the niacin test, without killing myself--I know upfront I am extremely sensitive to niacin, and I have in the past gotten a typical " niacin flush " even from niacinamide, though at highish dose, if memory serves. Guest guest
Hi sol I did some search on this about 4 years ago but I have forgotten some of the info now. test that needs to be done is whole blood histamine and absolute basophil count to determine if you are undermethylated. I had these tests and I came out to be high histamine. also if you make a search by using various combinations of Pfeiffer methylated methylation histamine Walsh you may reach to many articles on this listing the symptoms. my symptoms also fit to high histamine group. if one is high histamine l-methionine and or samE,calcium and some others. here is one site. http://www.alternativementalhealth.com/articles/walshMP.htm#Met and another one http://www.nutritional-healing.com.au/content/articles-content.php?heading=Major\ %20Mental%20Illness%20Biochemical%20Subtypes I read at related forum that niacin can be used as a test. It was said that flushing at low levels of niacin indicates high histamine. I flushed at 25 mg 4 years ago. I made another test a week ago and flushed at 50 mg this time. don't know what is the upper limit of niacin dosage to be considered as low. folic acid harms high histamine persons. it makes me terribly depressed and causes increase in inflammation and flu like symptoms. hope this helps best wishes nil Re: B12 What is considered a low enough dose of niacin to do the test with? Guest guest
Oh, I just read most of the first link you included. I am sitting here stunned! I'm going to get some niacin and try the flush test, but I do fit the undermethylated high histamine by symptoms. I also had/have the hair pulling. In jr high, I usually had a big bald spot on my head. Never knew there was a name for it, or that it was a symptom of anything, except I know I still pull eyelashes and eyebrows, especially when allergies/itching are higher. My eyelashes tingle and have little pains, causing me to tug on them. So weird. Thanks! This is really fascinating, and could be a big piece of my puzzle. sol Nil wrote: > Hi sol > > I did some search on this about 4 years ago but I have forgotten some of the info now. test that needs to be done is whole blood histamine and absolute basophil count to determine if you are undermethylated. I felt much better. than I stopped supplementing. lately I was feeling very depressed. I restarted them and again my depression lifted.I also think I have pyroluria type of thing. bw and good luck. nil Re: B12 Oh, I just read most of the first link you included.
