Guest guest
I am having an opposite problem. Yes, does and can hold his pee for a long time. But, EVERYDAY at 4:30 or so, he has 1 or 2 accidents. He is also still in a pull-up at night because of his night feeding and I don't know what to do about this, I want to get rid of the night feeding but he doesn't eat enough calories during the day, even by tube it is impossible to squeeze it all in him without becoming ill. Anyone else have the " accident " issue? I think it could possibly be purposeful sometimes. Last night he was at dinner and knew he was going to pee so he put a paper towel between his legs and started to go. I wasn't home (my husband was) and he was furious. He said he just didn't want to get up. I am not sure how to handle these " accidents " anymore because I can't tell if it is physical or behavioral. I am leaning toward behavioral because when he is out at that time or is with a friend he won't do it. Debbie Matasker mom to 10 w/CHARGE Re: peeing issues and iep at least he's not the only one! maria Re: peeing issues and iep , Peyton does this holding his pee thing sometimes too. He only does it in spurts, not all the time. Come to think of it, he's not been doing it for a while. He'll wake up w/ a dry diaper(he gets 4 cans- 8 oz each throughout the nite) and wait unitl late in the am to " go " . Sometimes we'll even start giviing him his daily routine of bolus' before he'll go.So he'll have the 32 oz. of overnite feeds plus a few more ounces before he goes-can you imagine? They've noticed this before when they've done tests on his kidney. They just said they'd have to watch it because it could cause problems. None so far though. So no answers for you, just to say that yes, we have that issue too. Corrie On 4/24/07, PATRICK HALLORAN net> wrote: > > ok experts a rather personal ? here for the boys. Guest guest
Im having " accidents " at night. They are happening more frequently now. (couple times a week.) Im concerned cause I havnt had this problem since I was a kid, mind you lately I have been better at staying hydrated. Problem is, I need to have a cup of water at night to take my night meds, problem is i wake up cause i had an accident. I need to figure out if this is a medicin related issue as its quite embarrising for me as an adult to admit this is happening frequently. Guest guest
, The holding of the pee until the sensation is really strong doesn't surprise me at all from what I've read here over the years. For some of these guys, they seem to need a much strong sensation to do certain things (Jeanie's daughter, MacKenzie, needs to shove her mouth FULL of food before swallowing or chewing also...similar but at opposite ends). I'm not sure what you could do to work on that, though, I just wanted to tell you that it isn't the first time I've heard it. I think Kennedy does it with having BMs sometimes for sure, whereas most people would go when they feel those initial first " cramps " , I'm not really sure that they bother her. After all these guys have been through, I mean really, what's a little poop cramp? I think she just ignores it or doesn't feel it like we do and then BAM! she's backed right up and requires intervention (this only happens once in a blue moon because I get her to " try " every day after school to try and keep her on track). RE: attentiveness/staying on task. I know some people think it's controversial (which is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinion), but without Ritalin, I seriously believe Kennedy would not be as successful as she is in school. People joke around about kids bouncing around not being able to stand still - with her balance issues, when she wakes up in the morning, she really DOES literally bounce off the walls! She does have a hard time staying on task, but the med for her really does help and it does NOT turn her into a zombie (I know some kids they say it does, but not so for us). Good luck with everything! Lis > > I am having an opposite problem. Yes, does and can hold his pee > for > a long time. But, EVERYDAY at 4:30 or so, he has 1 or 2 accidents. Guest guest
Chantelle, is there a way to get your medication schedule changed so you don't need that last cup of water at night? I'd ask the doc/pharmacist. > > Im having " accidents " at night. They are happening more frequently now. > (couple times a week.) Guest guest
who did you see to put her on meds? he does not bounce of the walls, but his attention is VERY easily distracted--if he hears or sees something or thinks of something he's off and running with that instead of what he needs to focus on and do. Guest guest
, it was our pediatrician. It helps her tremendously with being able to focus, which is very difficult for her. Guest guest
Dear - That is very frequent. What is the ratio of fluid intake to output? Any concern there? Does she show urgency even at that frequent an interval? Is this with a g/g-j tube? How old is again? ---- It was different for us. wouldn't take the time to go to the bathroom until she was leaking. So, she'd frequently be not wet, but damp. She finally stopped after I told her that was just plain silly and could cause infection-but she was 15 yrs old when we had that discussion! So there's no similarity here. (regular coughing didn't help her either) in Ma. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com. Guest guest
I am glad to hear of someone having the opposite problem. I am trying to potty train and it is wearing me out b/c she has to pee all the time. I think that she goes every hour and sometimes less than that. And of course she never tells me when she needs to go so I just have to stay on her about going. And then if she does have an accident and soaks herself it doesn't even faze her. Any suggestions? Re: peeing issues and iep , Peyton does this holding his pee thing sometimes too. He only does it in spurts, not all the time. Come to think of it, he's not been doing it for a while.
