The " omega " oils from plant sources (GLA, etc) are only precursors. If

they are not converted in the body into EPA and DHA, all you get is more

of what you already have too much of. And I have read that conversion of

plant oils into true omega oils in the body is inefficient in the

healthiest of people. And we are not the healthiest, and many of us have

other conversion problems so it's likely we don't convert the plant oils

at any helpful level at all. Fish oils are best because they give you

EPA and DHA, ready to use as is. No conversion needed.

There are molecularly distilled omega-3 fish oils which do not contain

mercury.
