Guest guest
I'm taking my almost 7 year old CHARGER to the conference this year - I've attended two without her. Unlike me, you will be able to socialize and make eye contact with other adults! You won't be an oddball! See you there! Lori Myers Spouse - Trent, Children - (9), (6, CHARGE Syndrome, Congenital Heart Defects/TOF Pulmonary Atresia/repaired, ECMO 12 days, Bi-lateral Choanal Atresia, Decanullated Trach, G-button, partial hearing loss, walking as of 12/22/04! and eating by mouth......finally!, and Emma (4). Dallas, Texas So excited, but a little sad at the same time Just wanted to post and say how much I'm looking forward to meeting some of you in California. It'll be so nice to put faces to the names I've gotten to know so well. I am however, really wishing that Luke and the rest of my family were coming too. But, both with my husband's job (at the bottom of the totem pole as a UPS driver and VERY BUSY in the summertime filling in for vacations) and Luke's tolerance (or should I say intolerance) for even the smallest changes, we just couldn't do it this year. We decided Luke wouldn't get enough out of going at his age to make up for all the stress he would feel in such a different environment. Stress is a biggy for Luke. Sooooo, it'll just be me and my mother-in-law there. I hope I don't feel too much like an oddball being there Luke-less. I'm sure it'll make me a little sad at times, especially once I meet all the other little CHARGErs who are close to the same age as he is. It would be so awesome if he could meet his little CHARGE friends. Anyway, hopefully in 2009!! Both my mom-in-law and I are really excited and feeling like the countdown is on. So much to do, so little time. See ya soon! PS - Anyone else going without thier kids??? Guest guest
, There are always many families who come with children and many who come without. I have done it both ways. This is my fourth time with Dylan and I have done it 2 times without. As much as I love having him with me, I have to say I am always glad that when he comes there is still someone else to hang out with him in the hotel at bedtime, so I can have my socializing time then. Guest guest
Hi, . I am so happy that you and your mother in law are goming to the conference.Unfortunately, my son and I are not going to be able to make it. I understand your excitement and your feeling a little sad about leaving the rest of your family behind. However, on the brighter side, you will be meeting so many wonderful people and are going to get a lot of information that will help you and your family. Take care, (mommy to (13 months Charger) proudmary730@...> wrote: Just wanted to post and say how much I'm looking forward to meeting some of you in California. Guest guest
I don't like him for it and I am jealous as hell, but my partner Simon is also coming all the way from England without the girls and me. He will fly out tomorrow and looks forward to birthday celebrations on arrival in evening. Says it feels a little odd but is looking forward to being able to catch up with everyone without the demanding Elly (only issue with her is being 5 and having the ego of that age) and the sleep deprived (7 and ........ well, need I say more. Mostly grouchy!). So there you are, there are plus sides to not taking them with you, and you will be able to finish your conversations! Don't think I have managed that in 7 years! Have a lovely time everyone and maybe see you in 2 years (now there is forward planning for you!). Flo > > You guys are all so great! Guest guest
I'm sad to not be seeing you and the girls this time around. I am hoping that I might be back in London in November for a conference, just working on getting sponsors for it. Will have to get together again if I do make it. Don't worry, we will all make sure Simon celebrates his Bday tomorrow!!! Take care!
