That is called a pred taper. You would do well to stip Isocort while on

the Pred, it will be not only enough adrenal support but is meant to

shut your immune system down while the antibiotics go to work. Trouble

is with weak adrenals the Isocort may not be enough for you when you

taper off the Pred. I woiuld be inclined ot tell the doctor oyu have

weak adrenals and take Isocort for it. see if he stillthinks this taper

is a good idea.

I know that makes sound sense Val but after giving me the short

Synacthen test, the GP prounounced my adrenals to be fine, so I can't

tell the GP I have been taking Isocort.

I have been considering going on to HC and am about to read 'Safe UIses

of Cortisol' which I am being lent a copy of.

If I decide to go down the HC route Val, when and by how much should I

take withing the 'pred taper' please.

pred(20mg HC equal) there oyu would puck up the HC at a 20mg dose.

Forgot to ask Val...If I stsart straight onto the HC - how would I dose

it as the GP wants me to take all the pred in the morning. I was

following your scgedule whilst on the Isocort.

As you are already WAY higher than that on the Pred the danger of a

thyroid dump is gone.

Sorry Val, don' understand that.

You said that Pred was equivalent to 5 mg HC...I take Isocort, which

supposedly is eqivalent to 20 mg HC.....

So surely wouldn't that mean that the Pred was higher than eithet the

Isocort or HC?

Following the HC protocol after finishing the Pred, would mean I would

be going from 5 mg Pred - equivalency 20 mg HC....To starting out on HC

with which would be a lot lower than the last dose of Pred which is

5mg???

If I followed the HC prtocol that would mean that I would only be taking

approximately 2.5mg of HC?

You rwould at the end of the Pred protocol (5MG pred=20mg HC) go straight to

20mg HC
