Guest guest
Janay They are being performed here, its all hush hush, I believe they have done some and a couple have failed, but I cant remember the research and evidence based report. Its the next step forwards in the audiology world! > > no never hear of it before. so keep it post maybe you can explain what > it mean. thanks michele s. > Auditory Brainstem Implants > > Has anyone had experience with these? > > Janay > Rasha's Mom > >
Guest guest
I was able to dig through a few abstracts of articles and found the same here in the US. I believe the HOUSE Ear Institute in LA has done a couple hundred on older patients. What I read coming out of Italy, in particular, and other parts of Europe and China is very promising. They have done some on patients younger than 2 and some of the articles are reporting success rates just lower than what is found with cochlear implants. Something to keep in mind... Guest guest
Hi Michele S.! Sorry for the delay. An auditory brainstem implant is a device that is implanted directly into the brain because the person's auditory nerves are not working or are not there, like my daughter. These users can't get a cochlear implant for this reason-because the problem is in a different place. He's still holding out hope I'll head north... :-) Janay > > > > Has anyone had experience with these? > > > > Janay > > Rasha's Mom > > > > > > > > > > -- > " It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in > delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.
