Guest guest
I stumbled on it at http://www.thyroid.com/thyroidologist.html It's an interesting read. A couple of things stuck out in my mind 1) his explaination of what one is/does and their areas of education regarding the thyroid and 2) he makes mention of finding one if your dr is having you come off meds for testing - he thinks it's time to see one then too. He said testing can be done without coming off meds. I hadn't heard of one before either and wanted to check in here since this group has so many knowledgeable members. Let me know if you find anything out. I'll be searching Google in the meantime. > > Ive never even heard that term. Guest guest
Shomon answers the question here: http://thyroid.about.com/od/gettestedanddiagnosed/a/7things.htm Nutshell: it's a self designation dr's give themselves when they are focusing their practice on thyroid disease. It has not other creditials.
Guest guest
I have seen two in Houston. One told me my issue was not thyroid, but anxiety and to follow up with a psychiatrist. I told him anxiety is a symptom, not a disease. I never went back to him. I have since read a handful of other people post about him(on another forum) and they have all said the SAME thing--he told then it was anxiety! The other doctor was very good and aggressive about getting a diagnosis for you (with a TRH test in his office, ultrasound, FNB, and an uptake all in a 24 hour period). He was the doctor to find out I had Hashi, later I found it to be hashitoxicosis, but unfortunatley I didn't tolerate any thyroid meds. Other patients I've talked to seeing him is he looks at the TSH too much, even though he's written alot about dosing by symptoms.
Guest guest
A thyroidologist is just another name for an endickrinologist. Barb wrote: > > I have seen two in Houston.
