Guest guest
Hi Pam, We're seeing Dr. Nurko (GI) on Monday the 14th, with some tests scheduled for Tuesday (Eddie will probably be admitted overnight) and Wednesday. We have a room at the Best Western right outside the hospital until we head back to New Jersey on Thursday. joanne > Joanne, > Where are you coming from?? > I live about 15 minutes from Children's. Guest guest
Joanne, Boston Children's are the best. I'm happy you're getting that chance. They also know about CHARGE. All our lives I was the one telling doctors in many hospitals about CHARGE. When we moved up here and Patty went to Boston Children's not only did I not have to tell them about CHARGE and it's unique medical needs they actually taught me a few new things. You'll find it comforting to have professionals who know what they are doing. They also " get it " in connecting with the children to make things less traumatic. And by the way, they have a great emergency room. When Patty goes in she doesn't present as being ill so she usually has to wait till I push them to take her in. Not Boston Children's. They knew that about CHARGE and took her in immediately. As for restaurants, there are many! What type are you looking for? Guest guest
Bonnie-- I'm so glad to hear you've had good experiences with Boston Children's. I hope we get the answers we're looking for. Back in my college days, a friend would search out the cheapest lobster before my visits. This time, I'm hoping to avoid junk food, nothing too fancy. Soups are a good choice for Eddie. Italian is always on the top of my list. I haven't been to Boston in ages, so any advice will be much appreciated! Thanks! > Joanne, > > Boston Children's are the best. Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I am a native of MA and have lived in and around Boston for many years. My son Felix was in the NICU at Children's in Boston for 3 months after he was born. The doctors there are excellent. In fact, Dr. Nurko performed one of Felix's many surgeries and we see Dr. Rosen who works with Dr. Nurko as Felix's GI. She is really terrific - I can't say enough good things abour her. (I think Dr. Nurko mostly does surgery now?). Anyway, you are definitely in great hands. In terms of food, if you like Italian you will need to go to Boston's North End. http://www.northendboston.com/ For a fancy night, Mamma can't be beat. For something more casual Il Panino or La Familgia are great. If you need convenience, there is a Bertucci's right across the street from the hospital. There is also a Souper Salad (for soups) right around the corner from the hospital - anyone will be able to point it out. They have a nice patio in the warm months. Au Bon Pain is in the hospital for quick, healthy meals, they are great. Their soups are awesome and they usually have 6 to 8 choices every day. We lived on Au Bon Pain soups nad salads and Bertucci's pasta during our three month stint at the hospital Hope that helps. If you are looking for recommendations on any other type of food, let me know. I know Boston restaurants pretty well Enjoy! > > > Joanne, > > > > Boston Children's are the best. Guest guest
Joanne, I have held off responding while doing a bit of research re: restaurants (outside of the hospital) and Lo! and behold, did it all!! Hopefully, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a lovely dinner or two--especially in the North End. I can also vouch for the Bertucci's and the Au bon Pain--very nice and the food is reliably good. I would love to think we might be able to meet up but the week is becoming crazier and crazier as time gets closer. If you could email me off line, I will give you my phone number and perhaps we can figure something out. pam ps. thanks !!! Guest guest
Joanne, did a wonderful job sharing about restaurants. I would add if you are going to the North End you should try Mikes Pastry. Every time we go there to eat we end up with a wicked canoli's from there. They also have many other deserts but that's my favorite. The best is chocolate dipped in chocolate. That alone is worth the trip. Bonnie, Mom to Kris 24, Patty CHARGE 22, and wife to ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
