This may or may not apply to you, but once DH reached a certain level

of HC, his anxiety completely disappeared. This was low-grade, daily

anxiety that never disappeared that he'd just learned to live with and

used kava and other natural remedies to deal with. Which tends to make

me think you are still not on enough HC. He finds it so remarkable

that he always brings it up in conversation when trying to review his

progress when he has setbacks. His musing goes something like " well,

at least the anxiety's gone, I still feel weak, but the taste is gone

(he had a metallic taste in his mouth for the longest time), the

ringing in my ears is less frequent, etc. "

Yes and given how bad my back hurts most of the time, right over and

around the adrenals, I don't doubt it. I just keep going up on the HC

and not finding that sweet spot for me. My anxiety used to be low

level but got a lot worse after starting Florinef, whether it had

anything to do with it or not, and has continued at more like medium

to almost panic at times. The Kava didn't interfere with anything

else that we're doing? I guess it would be less extreme than

Seroquel, but I might need something more extreme to get over the

anxiety of withdrawing from Klonopin. One of our listers e-mailed me

privately to tell me that she used to use Klono and other benzos and

that she had similar troubles to me until she weaned off of it and

that she also found that her adrenals responded much better

afterwards. That is only one anecdotal report, but the psych forums

are full of people talking about how evil benzos can be and how hard

to get off - especially klono which is 20x stronger than Valium with a

much shorter half-life. Again, I was only taking it PRN until PRN

because every night which has now been over 2 months. I think that I

need off of it and that's the discussion that my psy doc and I will

have next Wed.

Have you ever tried 5 htp? It has worked wonders for me. I had also been on

Benzo's years ago with no sleep....they disrupt your REM levels.

Good news is that all of my anxiety is gone. I do sleep when my thyroid and

adrenals let me....it also helps with calming the mind, feeling at peace.

I would also suggest True Calm by Now. Being on Klonopin, you are gonna need

your Gaba receptors boosted and this has some gaba in it.

You can find the 5 htp at wallgreens.....usually on sale by Natrol...

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Has anyone here been on it and/or have a reason or information that it

would be harmful to thyroid or adrenals? As anyone who reads my posts

knows, I'm not sleeping and my anxiety has lately hit a new phase that

I can only describe as disruptive if not almost disabling. I spoke to

my psy doc about it and about how the Klonopin is not helping with the

sleep anymore and how I would like to wean off of it but am afraid to

try right now given that I'm already super anxious and that the wean

off of it is likely to make more so and she suggested that I try a low

dose of Seroquel which can be good for insomnia AND anxiety, even at

low doses which is all I intend to take. I just don't want to get on

it and find out that it's an antagonist to T3 or cortisol, etc.

Thanks,

I'm really butting in here today. But I've done a lot of reading on

various psychoactive meds and they are metabolized through various

pathways. Cytochrome pathways, for some meds, you can find online the

info as to exactly which pathways they use. I've always wondered what

those pathways would be doing without the meds monopolizing them? I mean

surely Cytochrome path XYZ 300 (made up) isn't just sitting around in

the body, twiddling its thumbs, made by various genes and DNA in humans

for aeons past, just so we can now take the latest whizbang new

pharmaceutical? I don't think evolution works like that, LOL.
