Guest guest
Have you had Ferritin tested? Low ferritin can also cause these symptoms. What happens when you try HC? That woud be the first thing to do is to try to get some cortisol in your body then try the thyroid increases. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
I had Ferritin drawn last week...waiting for results. I feel adrenal push even with HC no matter the dose. Should I back off on my current dose for now? Maybe not take any armour today and start tomorrow? > > Have you had Ferritin tested? Low ferritin can also cause these > symptoms. Guest guest
What do yoiu mean by adrenal push? How are you dosing HC? -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
I reread my post...need to clarify...I am not using HC now. I have tried it before. I do not have a dr now to rx it as we moved. I meant should I back off Armour dose for now... Adrenal Push...whenever I take T-4, T-3, Vitamins, B complex, Vit C, adrenal glandulars, sometimes when I eat, etc (this is noticed over a period of a few years and I am just now seeing the correlation) or...short of breath, facial cheeks tingly, vision not clear, ears ringing and full feeling in ears, extremely on edge, hate to be touched, noise seems louder than usual. Also noticed the above sensations when I was on Synthroid if I took too much or too little I was having the above symptoms but I was never able to find a dose to regulate that was when we tried Armour... > > What do yoiu mean by adrenal push? Guest guest
NO thyroid med will work for you properly as long as you are low in cortisl or Ferritin. Those two things are the usual cause of problems especially wiht Armour. I would go to the thyroid dose that feel scpomfortable for now and try to get the adrenal treatmenmt you need to have to be able to optimize the thyroid. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Ok I will post Ferritin when I get the results. Do you think Isocort is worth the try in the interim? > > NO thyroid med will work for you properly as long as you are low in > cortisl or Ferritin. Guest guest
Loralee, I, too, am ULTRA sensitive to all thyroid meds, adrenal support, cortisol, supps, etc., I suspect because of my adrenal fatigue. Anyways, I have unsuccessfully been able to tolerate even 25 mcg of Synthroid OR 1/4 grain of Armour (separately) so I have now started adrenal support and am on an aqueous solution of diluted thyroid meds that is prescribed to be by Dr. Langer (mentioned in mary shomon's book) here in California. This solution allows me to start on a dose of the equivalent to 2.5 mcg of Synthroid and slowly build up by 2.5 mcg every 3 days. Even when I got up to 15 mcg Synthroid the other day, with only 2 1/2 Isocort pellets daily, I had MAJOR HYPER symptoms - heart palpitations, massive anxiety, feeling manic/wired, racing thoughts, and insomnia (not even curable by combinations of sleeping pills!) for 2 days straight. I think this may have been a 'thyroid dump' but can't be sure. It was AWFUL. Anyways, I mention this b/c if you are having such a hard time tolerating thyroid meds (as I have) even WITH Isocort & licorice for adrenal support, you may want to get a prescription for this specialized aqueous diluted solution of thyroid meds. It has to be done at a compounding pharmacy, and I had to specifically see Dr. Langer to get this prescription as no other endo's knew what I was talking about. Dr. Langer's info is at http://thyroid.about.com/cs/expertinterviews/a/langer.htm. Good Luck! Guest guest
Hi Val, After reading this post, I have a question for you. I, too, am having a hard time tolerating something (either thyroid meds or Isocort). One of them is making me have hyper symptoms - heart palpitations, anxiety, panic, racing thoughts, relentless insomnia, chest pain. This happened 2 days ago when I raised my Levothyroxine dose (t4) from 12.5 mcg to 15 mcg. I have been on 2 1/2 Isocort pellets (not very much) and 1/2 tsp. licorice. I had a full 40 hours of horrible hyper symptoms, which felt like 'thyroid dump' as you and others have described. Thyroid dump happens when you don't have enough cortisol, right? I assume i need to up my Isocort (haven't been able to tolerate cortisol even at low dose of 5 mg before). However, when I do up my Isocort initially, my heart palpitations go up too. I don't feel like i can win. You said LOW FERRITIN may cause these hyper-like symptoms as well. My ferritin was 37 (scale was 8-125 ug/L). Do you think I should supplement with iron? If so, what brand do you recommend? FYI, diagnosed as hypo in 8-07 and adrenal fatigue then too (but nobody treated it until Feb 08). I just started on Isocort 4 weeks ago and thyroid meds 3 weeks ago. Thanks Val. Metta > > > > > > NO thyroid med will work for you properly as long as you are low in > > > cortisl or Ferritin. Guest guest
Whta you are describing is not a thyroid dump. A thyroid dump happens when you have exess T3 built up in your blod (usually over range on a Free T3 lab) and you rais cortils enough to allow it into the cells at once, usually 20mg HC or more is needed for this to happen. What you are describing is a typical low ferritin reaciton to thyroid. Yes Ferritin needs ot be between 70-90 for proper thyroid utilization. I cannto recommend a brand as I have not ever needed to take this myself but I do know it takes 150-200 mg daily of elemental iron to raise this level. I weould take what ever brand and tyoe agrees with you best., -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

Your doctor has a unique solution to this nad I wil be interested to see if it works. Guest guest
Metta Thanks for sharing your experience. Where in CA? We are supposed to be transferred there in a few months. Maybe I will hold tight until I get there. Maybe I will have better luck with docs on the West coast! Guest guest
Thanks for the clarification Val. So you don't think the heart palpitations, etc was from the Isocort? I was only on 2 1/2 pellets, but still I thought maybe that was making me get the hyper symptoms. It makes more sense that it was the thyroid meds, though, b/c I have had this reaction before to Armour (at only 1/4 grain). Thanks! Also, do you know of Isocort to have adrenaline-like substances in it that cortisol does not? thanks, metta > > Whta you are describing is not a thyroid dump.
