Guest guest
Trish, many kids with CHARGE either have a different " normal " temp and/or difficulty regulating their body temps. I know of several who normally run low - around 97 or 97.5 And lots of kids have " unexplained fevers (or maybe just elevated temp) " - sometimes every day (which leads to lots of extra workups, being sent home form school, etc). As you probably know, everyone has variations in their temp during the day - it's lowest early in the morning and highest late in the afternoon. That's for typical people. It may be different for kids with CHARGE. So the best I can tel you is to know your child. If you are worried RIGHT NOW, keep an eye on it (is it changing?) and observe how Sammy feels. Kids can get fussy JUST because they are hot from fever, but also if they really are sick. Trust your gut. Hope that helps a little. Meg not a doctor, but lots of experience with CHARGE and her own 3 kids. > > Hi, I was just wondering if any of you were given special instructions > with our CHARGE kids as to how high of a temp they can have before we > have to worry. Guest guest
Trish Amélie has a labile temp every day of her life! highest at around 6am. We take her temp 2-3 hourly as part of every day routine. Amélie had problems as a newborn maintaining her temp more so than the average newborn, as so we took this as part of her. If you know thats your childs norm then its easier to manage, Amélies school also know this and they keep up regular temp checks, and paracetamol when required. les x > > Trish, > many kids with CHARGE either have a different " normal " temp and/or > difficulty regulating their body temps. Guest guest
Trish, To say that CHARGErs are different and yet the same goes here too. runs a normally low average body temp, about 97. Even through all the pneumonias, ear infections and all he's never really ran a 'temp' When he had his appendicitis a couple years ago he never ran a temp tho his white cell count was WAY high and when the did the op they told me his appendix was so infected it was about to burst. But all my kids are that way. So we go here more on behavior than anything else Course it's alot easier now when they can tell you what's going on.
