I knew it would be going in soon, but came home this evening and the paper

boy had put 3 through my door!! I was horrified...I was promised a small

article for and they stuck it on the front page!! the phone had to be

switched off in the end I was that pestered!!

It isnt very accurate either as I dont believe Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

is a syndrome, and she made it sound really bad I thought

what with the silent killer part...hiddeous!!

We are raising money though for charge UK this August so the publicity will

benefit that.

said that our teacher said we needed thing thing when she acutaly ddint say

it like that and as for amelies other thing is it really as bad as they make

it coz shes been out a year and well i it was as bad as they say shed never

leave the hosp

Your right Ellen they are never quiet accurate,

Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy is very serious its the thickening of the heart

muscle, which stops

it from beating effectively, there is nothing that can be done with it, so

Amelie has beta blockers which help

to pump more efficiently as well as duiretics to help with fluid, she also

has pulmonary hypertension, although

she has been home a year, so I agree with you shes well in our opinion...or

as well as any charge child can be expected to be!!

Understand your fury Les. You should have seen my face when we got a copy

after agreeing to The Sun (!!!!!) doing an article about to raise

awareness of Sense. I had had my misgivings about doing it with that

esteemed (?) high quality paper (ha ha!) but thought that Sense have done so

much for us they deserve our support. Well, I don't think many of us would

have recognised the definition of CHARGE that went out and the things I was

supposed to have said were amazing. I was so glad most people I know

recognised that the quotes could not have come from me. BUT there was the

cutest picture of our little pumpkin with her school bookbag striding down

the road swinging the bag for all the additional sensory input she was

worth. Sense were happy they got a mention and their details were

published, we were happy CHARGE was mentioned, school were happy to have a

large picture of one of their school bags with their name and logo clearly

emblazoned and a very happy to be going to school child etc. However, it

certainly made me aware of the fact that the publications are only

interested in the dramatic effect of the stories, not the accurate

representation. I would still probably do it again but with much more

caution and awareness. I had even asked them not to use my name because of

the job I do and of course they assured me they would not but of course they

did. Actually, I did agree to a very little article (Sense again!!) in

Woman's Own or something last year and that was OK. Guess we can only try

to take the positives out of these experiences.

How is little Amelie by the way? Any news?

What a nice article, Les! Your girls are just beautiful. You are going to have

a hard time keeping the boys away from your door in a few years! ;-)

I did not know you had done an article on charge, so you will know why

I am in hiding!! I managed to stay off the picture, but why my age etc

needed to go in I will never know, she has even identified my address

its not difficult to know where we are its a small place!! oh well

like you we live and learn, my brother is chuffed he said its good PR

for his August fun day...some proceeds will come to charge so I

shouldnt complain!!

Amelie is very well, until we get an H.A.I. !!! surgery is 21st May

although they are trying for sooner now they wont let her home at

night, so its could be sooner, they couldnt find the ENT today to

inform him, as he discharged us yesterday then the respiratory

consultant dragged us back in!!

I WILL take credit for their good looks!! although Amelie has aged me

terribly in the two years since her arrival, sh has also added to my

waste line...if stressed I EAT !!
