Guest guest
, before even considering Medrol, I would go as far as 50-60mg HC. I know of at leats 3 people that needed that much. When you have low cortisol symptoms when is it in relation to your dosing? Are there ups and downs with the HC where it feels ok thne lows before the next dose? It not lastring long enough ios the ONLY reason that would verify the need for a longer lasting steroid. You have more chance of shutting the adrenals down wiht stronger steroid than with HC. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
val,,,,I dont really think there's a relationship with the timing of my doses and my symptoms. I just feel low in cortisol all the time it seems. even shortly after a dose. for instance,,,,I took 10 mg of hc,,,,then did 20 minutes on the treadmill just 30 minutes later but my temp still dropped from 97.5 right before the workout to 96.0 just after. which really surprised me. so this sounds like I just need a higher dose as opposed to medrol? > > , before even considering Medrol, I would go as far as 50-60mg HC. > I know of at leats 3 people that needed that much. Exercise burns ALOT of cortisol. You need to remember you are ILL! Heck I wish I felt well enough to exercise but I gave that up long ago from the pain. When you exercise it stimulates the adrenals to produce cortisl to cover that exercise, then they have NO reserves left for that last hour between doses or the evening when you ususlly can run on your own for a bit. Try stopping the exercise or cutting it to MINOR exercise and raising the HC by 5MG. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
Well, I wonder if that is your problem. You are excercising the cortisol you just took completely away, and not dosing extra for that. I believe there needs to be a period of no excercise while we ramp up on HC and allow the adrenals to heal and build up some cortisol reserve. You aren't allowing that to happen, and you aren't taking enough HC to compensate. HC can't do the job we want it to do if burnt off as soon as taken. If you stop excersing until you get HC to a stable good dose, with stable temp averages, and hold there a few weeks, then you could possibly start excercising again very slowly at first, monitoring how much extra HC you need to dose before excercise for those post workout symptoms not to happen. I'm not certain whether excercise is a good idea at all, as long as a person has to stress dose for it, though. My feeling being if excercise requires a stress dose, there aren't enough adrenal reserves built up to properly benefit from the workouts. sol wrote: > val,,,,I dont really think there's a relationship with the timing of > my doses and my symptoms. Guest guest
yea,,I hear ya's about the exercise. I go to the gym and lift heavy 3 days a week and do some light cardio twice a week. I wonder if this is the problem. I just feel like mush if Im not working out. I have taken a week off from the weights a couple different times but I found it harder to sleep and didnt notice any big difference. I also havent exactly been making any gains in muscle either so I probably am wasting my time working out. maybe I should take 2 weeks off and see how it goes. anyway,,thanks for the advice > > val,,,,I dont really think there's a relationship with the timing of > > my doses and my symptoms. Guest guest
, I used to work out pretty vigorously, several times a week with a trainer. I found that I could do the weights a lot easier than doing any cardio when my adrenal problems started. I did end up having to lay off everything for a while, especially any type of cardio. I am back now to being able to work out with some cardio also, but I do keep the cardio at about 20 minutes and a lighter load than I used to. Try laying off for a couple of weeks and see if that helps, and then maybe try just walking on the treadmill at a much slower pace for a little longer. I found it's the harder cardio workout that really wipes me out. You probably train a lot harder with weights than I do, but I find the weight training just helps make me feel good and gets a lot of oxygen to my body. Maybe just try a lighter routine that keeps the muscle you have, not building more. I feel good again when I work out, which is a great feeling. Make sure you are getting great sources of fats and don't cut back on those at all. What's your diet consist of? Do you take any whole food source of B vitamins, a greens formula of any kind? That's really helpful energy wise. Linn > > yea,,I hear ya's about the exercise. I go to the gym and lift heavy 3 > days a week and do some light cardio twice a week. Guest guest
I realize I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but , have you had your aldosterone/renin tested? What about your sodium/potassium? When you are feeling bad, have you tried mixing up some salt with some vitamin C? I was on 40 mg of hc and not feeling great, despite the high dose, until I began florinef. I feel like I'm finally recovering, after 1 1/2 years on hc and armour. Dropping down on exercise is really hard to do, I know, but sometimes for a while, it really helps to ease up and I don't know how old you are, but I find the strength and flexibility comes back relatively quickly. And it's worth the trade, imo. Dahlia > > > val,,,,I dont really think there's a relationship with the timing of > > > my doses and my symptoms. Guest guest
anyone have an online source for aldosterone & renin testing. Both my sodium & potassium are on the low side despite sea salt intake. I think I need to get this tested & doc will not order Thanks Re: hc not cutting it I realize I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but , have you had your aldosterone/renin tested? Guest guest
On the main website for this group, click on links there you will find a list of labs the first of which wil ldo Aldosteorne and though it is not listed they will also do Renin if you call and ask them. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
actually I just had aldosterone tested a few days ago through direct labs. I should get the results within a couple days and will post them. I believe my aldosterone levels are low as I fail the flashlight test horribly and am sensitive to light. surprisingly though my sodium levels came back at 141 which was right in the middle of range when I had a chemistry panel done about 4 months ago. I had sea salt the day and night before the test so maybe that made it show higher than reality. I do have a bottle of florinef at hand in case lab does indeed show low aldosterone levels. I take 2 tsps of sea salt a day. I dont feel dizzy anymore when standing but thats really the only difference I feel with it > > > > val,,,,I dont really think there's a relationship with the > timing of > > > > my doses and my symptoms. Guest guest
Hi Brain, I will be most interested to hear how you do on your aldosterone labs. From what I've read here, a sodium level of 141 is still considered lowish. Dahlia > > actually I just had aldosterone tested a few days ago through direct > labs.
