do you have to stop or reduce iron supplements for any period of time

before getting ferritin levels checked for them to be as accurate as

possible?

You are supposed to stop for 3 days prior to testing to get an accurate

resutl. If you don't then your result will show highter than your actual

levels. For instance, when I first had mine tested in December it was 14,

but I had been taking 25mg of iron per day so it was probably a bit lower in

actuality. The ferritin test I had done a few weeks ago was 20, but I had

been taking 100mg per day, so about all I know is that I'm still really

low.... I found out about not taking the iron before testing after this last

test.

Same goes for B-12 testing.

I thik I have read 48 hours to stop iron pre0testing but I would loiok i

tup on the web or ask Missy on the NTH main list, she is the iron expert!
