Guest guest
- You bring up a good point. Rasha is the same way-we have to give Miralax once a week to keep things in order and her hair is dry too. I noticed that it has become dryer over the last year. I thought it was just because she's taking to pulling it out by the handful. Janay Mom to Rasha(20 months old) > > Do any CHARGERS or children with CHARGE have trouble with dry hair. Guest guest
Check the thyroid levels - dry hair and constipation can be a sign of hypothyroidism - Kennedy doesn't have it, but I do! www.chargesyndrome.info > > hmmm i had this prob to they figured was some meds im on so id check all > ur > meds to see the sideeffects > > On 01/05/07, jkhayes95 jkhayes95@... > > wrote: > > > > - > > > > You bring up a good point. Guest guest
had some funky hair in the back which was attributed to the fact that she scooted on the back of her head somewhat like an inch worm to get around. This was before she could crawl mind you. The texture of her hair made me think of carpet. We used a really good children's conditioner on it and still do actually. The name is " BEBE " . Now that part of her hair is the prettiest b/c it has such beautiful curls. Go figure. ---- Original Message ----- From: erinsefcik To: CHARGE Sent: Monday, April 30, 2007 5:00 PM Subject: Dry Hair Do any CHARGERS or children with CHARGE have trouble with dry hair. My son is 20 months and he has dry hair and consitpation issues. We have done some bowel cleanouts and started Murilax and extra water which has all helped with the consitpation but we continue to have problems with dry brittle hair. The doctor just checked for thyroid problem and it turned up normal. I am at a loss as to why his hair is so dry. I have 3 other boys and they don't seem to have this problem, nor do my husband or I so I am wondering if it is related to having CHARGE syndrome? Thanks for your help! Guest guest
Hi, has always had constipation problems but he also had some extensive stomach surgeries in the past. He also has been on Miralax for a long time. His bowel movements off of the Miralax are extremely large ( clog the toilet large). Over the years we have encouraged him to always drink plenty of water. He almost always has something to drink in his hands now but still occasionaly will have a constipation problem. I have extremely dry skin. Something I do is massage baby oil into my skin while I am still wet from a shower then towel dry. Also my doctor recommended Jergen's lotion. Of all the lotions I've tried that seems to work the best. My husband has a problem with sometimes getting intense itching on his arms. Daughter has the same thing and they would scatch themselves raw on their arms. They have prescription cream they use but the doctor also recommends that they use only Dove or Tone soaps. Hope some of this info can be helpful. mom to 31 > > Do any CHARGERS or children with CHARGE have trouble with dry hair. My > son is 20 months and he has dry hair and consitpation issues. In addition to the Charge, Angelina also has Hirschsprungs disease, an intestinal dirsorder where part of the cells that move the large bowel are missing. This often first presents as constipation. I'm not sure if any other Chargers have Hirschprungs, but you may want to rule that out. mom of Angelina 2 1/
