YEA LUKE!!!!!!

Gross motor progress at last!!!

Hi everyone. Just thought I would share our exciting news. Luke is

2 1/2 and has been pretty significantly delayed especially with gross

motor. Some days I was scared he'd never be able to get off his

back, but this last month has been awesome for Luke. Luke is now

crawling (on all fours with his head up), pulling to stand and

climbing up on furniture by himself!!! He is now officially not to

be trusted in the room by himself. I never thought I'd be so happy

to say that. The other day I when I left the room he was laying on

the floor and when I came back a minute later he was standing by the

chair, and then proceeded to climb up on the chair. It seemed like

we waited forever for this and it's so exciting to see Luke finally

be able to do these things. And to think, this all has happened

within a month after finding out he had no semi-circular canals! He

has also learned some fear of falling and is now able to get himself

out of sitting position without just flopping backwards. He is

working on doing that from standing too. We are just so happy about

all this progress we can hardly believe it. I hope those of you

parents who are feeling really discouraged right now will read this

and feel a sense of hope. It takes an incredible amount of patience

sometimes and a lot of faith, but it's so amazing when you finally

get something you've waited so long for. We're so grateful.

Way to go, Luke! , this seems to be the case with a lot of these

guys; they have long gaps where you think, " is it EVER going to happen?? "

Then, they have these amazing spurts of development that just fill you with

pride, hope, and optimism. It's hard waiting sometimes though, isn't it?

Enjoy your new job of chasing Luke around! ;)

That is awesome! Isn't it crazy how he can make so much progress in such a

short time? If anyone had told you that he'd just suddenly " get it " , you'd

never believe it cuz it goes against all our typical child development

experience. I'm so thrilled for all of you. What a big world Luke will be

enjoying now that he can move around! And how fun for you to finally have

to " Luke-proof " the house!!!

,

How absolutely wonderful !!!! Almost 15 years later I still remember with

great happiness the day finally sat on his own for the first time.

Christmas Day, nine months old and the best Christmas present I could have ever

asked for.
