Guest guest
I will be very interested to see how you make out wiht this! COngrats on getting t see what must be good doctors if they are under Hertoghe's tutilage! As for not feeling full, add some good BUTTER to those veggies! Fats help you feel satiated after eating and also slo digestion so you feel full longer. They are also excellent for blood sugar regulation. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/

For all my childhood and most of my adulthood, a meal was defined as " something " with potatoes and bread. I still feel the lack, something is just missing, as indeed it is. However, it could also be remaining hunger due to lack of sufficient fat with the meal. I am not able to eat fatty meat, so I take care to butter my vegetables, and have a lot of good dressing on salads, and that helps. sol

This is very common with low adrenal function. It might be a good idea to try either a couple of teaspoons of cider vinegar in water with the meal or try some betaine hydrochoride (HCL) which is supplementing the stomach acid. I have to do both with main meals and occasionally with snacks too otherwise the food just ferments in my gut. Pam

Guest guest
I was just thinking the opposite. I believe I have high stomach acid as betaine tears up my stomach horribly. Doesn't it seem like food not digesting but sitting in the stomach would make you feel fuller longer, thus causing more satiation rather than less? Just going by my own experience, without quite a lot of fat at each mean/snack, my stomach will blow through a meal in about 20-30 min, leaving me starving. Protein slows that down, but without fat even heavy protein doesn't last long. This is gross, but I have a lot of experience with my stomach function, having been bulimic for many years. I know beyond doubt how fast I digest what. Sorry if this is TMI for anyone. sol doggy532001 wrote: >> The other thing might be that she is too low in stomach acid and isn't >> > digesting the meat too well. Guest guest
Probably means soy products - tofu, tempeh etc. Tofu is highly processed. Cathy > > Which vegetarian sources of protein are poison to us??? > > > naffy > > >
Guest guest
> Which vegetarian sources of protein are poison to us??? Nuts and seeds. I forgot to ask about beans, but I'm assuming they're in the same category. I'll have to check, though. Anyway, I do know my stomach doesn't digest beans well, and I get bloated, so I've been avoiding them. The doc felt that it's ok to eat soy twice a week, but I've been avoiding soy because I'm not convinced it's safe. > I personally think some of that being hungry after a meal with > adequate protein and some veg is due to simple habit. I think so too. I'm hoping with time my body will adjust. Some good advice about stomach acid and fats too; I used to take Hypocylin for low stomach acid. I should try that again. The doc told me to drop all milk products, so butter is out (I LOVE butter so that's too bad), but I do use a lot of cold pressed oils, which I also use with my veggies and salads. > I will be very interested to see how you make out wiht this! > COngrats on getting t see what must be good doctors if they are > under Hertoghe's tutilage! I'll report again after my next appointment. Thanks for the congrats I do feel really good about this. My wallet doesen't, and I'm actually quite screwed but as long as I can make it through the next two years or so, I should be fine. Guest guest
Congratulations on getting into see his practice/associates. Good luck! Thanks OT: I realized after the appointment, why there was a mixup about the doctor. When I first called the clinic in January I was told, that the first available appointment with Dr. Hertoghe is in October. I told the lady on the phone that I couldn't wait that long, and she started checking the calender. Suddenly yhere were some appointments available. Apparently Dr. Hertoge didn't have appointments until October, but his associates did. I was just never told that I was seeing a different doc But I'm sure Dr. Hertoghe has a very high standard of doctors for his clinic. Both these doctors seemed to have a lot of experience, which puts me at ease.
Guest guest
I thought nuts were supposed to be healthy. Are they goitrogens too? ugh naffy > > > Which vegetarian sources of protein are poison to us??? > > Nuts and seeds. I forgot to ask about beans, but I'm assuming they're > in the same category. Guest guest
I prefer to use butter, and limit any veg oils to as little as possible. Vegetable oils are bad, butter is good, olive oil (as unrefined as possible) is good, unheated virgin coconut oil is good. Lard would be good if you could get it without hydrogenation, which we can't these days. I used the saved fat from good bacon, too. sol ajapi79 wrote: > The doc told me to drop all milk products, so butter is out (I LOVE > butter so that's too bad), but I do use a lot of cold pressed oils, > which I also use with my veggies and salads. > >
Guest guest
Hi Annukka, This is a small point, but you can make ghee which removes all the milk protein from butter. Dahlia
Guest guest
Lol,sol and Nafoel This is exactly what makes this so difficult: all basic foods are healthy frome some point ofview and bad from another. I also believe there's personal variation on what works for each person, so that's why I think it's bad to give absolute rules in many things related to diet. I'm sure we'll all agree that wheat and sugars are bad for you, but that's as far as I'd take it.
