Guest guest
Your doc is a little " off " and I personally wouldn't trust him. It's GOOD to have underactive adrenals?! Try to get anyone here to agree to that statement! Excessive cortisol inhibits T4 to T3 converson, thus making you hypo that way, and some people gain weight with high cortisol. Suggesting gastric bypass is such a cop-out. You have an endocrine condition, which when corrected, may result in some of your weight coming off without such drastic, permanently disabling surgery. I would not go that route till you've at least gotten your cortisol and thyroid stabilized. Eating a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet also helps with weight. If you're on a T3/T4 med, it seems TSH has to be .0x to be optimal. I would not want the doctor dosing me by TSH anyway. That is personally why I have adrenal fatigue. Get someone to look only at Free T3 and Free T4. I would also still prefer Armour to Thryolar because of the T1, T2, and calcitonin it has that Thyrolar doesn't. Here's an analogy to use. Since I'm providing my thyroid hormones with medication, then theoretically, my TSH should be 0, because if it's any more than that, then my pituitary is saying it needs more, which means I'm not supplementing enough. Your cholesterol is another blood indicator that can be used. If it's too high (over 200), you need more thyroid. Too low (less than 160), you need less. There is medical literature that supports that high cholesterol is merely low thyroid function, so you can show him that if necessary. Guest guest
Barb, Thanks for replying to my post. I was beginning to think I was passed over lol. I'm a lil confused by this statement. I have low cortisol based on my saliva labs. So wouldn't that mean that my body doesn't produce enough cortisol? I'm sorry if I sound stupid. I just can't wrap my brain around all of this anymore. Val looked at my labs a few days ago and said I should start on HC immediately but I'm not sure what dosage or how to go about it. Is there a dosing schedule or something to go by? She also said I shoudl start DHEA at least 5mg. <<<.... There is a rampo up schedule for HC and Isocort there. -- Artistic Grooming- Hurricane WV http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/
Guest guest
My response below was to explain your doctor's asinine statement about why high cortisol was bad and low cortisol might be a blessing. You tested as having low cortisol, so yes, in your case, you adrenals are not producing enough. Once you support your adrenals with Isocort or HC and other vitamins/supplements, you'll be able to raise your thyroid dose, which should help you lose some weight.
