Guest guest
Hi everyone, Today I saw a new Endo in town and wanted to try to gain some insight on what this man is talking about. I showed him my saliva cortisol labs and he said it didn't look like I had an adrenal problem. Said what people didn't know was that it would benefit them ot have an underactive adrenal gland that way they didn't gain weight from the excess cortisol production. He took more blood work and said if my labs run ok he'd pry prescribe Thyrolar because it was t4/t3 combo like Armour. Said 95% of his patients feel better on that than just synthroid alone. He said he likes a TSH to be supressed to 2 or below. I told him I'd gained 6lbs since I was at the doc in Feb and I'm continuing to gain and feel cruddy. HE said he normally doesn't treat adrenals based on the reason I stated above. He checked my legs and my hands and said I didn't appear to have cushings but I have always suspected hashi's. What I found odd was he took my blood himself and only took one large vial. Before I had several tubes taken by the labs. I dont know if that means anything but he didn't have Drug company propaganda all over his office and he even had a sign posted saying he only saw certain drug companies at certain hours and they'd have to wait on him. I felt htat was a decent sign but I'm still weary about him not treating my adrenals. I'm still confused on the cortisol stuff though. Doesn't excess cortisol make you bigger? My family doc is suggesting I do lap band or gastric bypass. Said I'd pry be one of those people that stayed big all my life if I didn't.
