We could not use clonidine because of the possible heart side effects in

combination with ritilan. For abilify has worked wonders with his

aggression.

For any parents out there who's children are on clonidine for aid with agressive

behaviors, I am needing some feedback. A few months ago, I submitted an e-mail

asking what meds everyone has found that worked best and ones that did not. I

received responses stating that clonidine worked well and did not seem to have a

" honeymoon " effect as some of the other meds did. My son Ty is 8 yrs old and we

have been trying Buspar which has turned out to have the honeymoon effect. I

told my doctor about clonidine and he was not very comfortable with trying it

but instead tried Klonopin which made him very aggitated as a side effect.

So, I am asking for responses from those of you who do use clonidine and what

type of response you saw with your child so that I can educate our physican. I

really hate doing this trial and error with Ty but do need some positive relief

for him. Any help would be great and appreciated.

Thanks and have a great day to all-

No experience whatsoever but have clonidine question too. We have finally

given up all other attempts and concluded needs meds to help her

sleep after nearly one year of poor sleep and questionable learning and

quality of life. After a long session with the local sleep experts, they

recommended clonidine. They discussed with her cardiologist who apparently

said OK to go ahead, that they often use clonidine for cardiac patients

coming out of surgery (don't know what for exactly). This was a few months

ago but has been hard to give in knowing there might be implications for the

heart.

Just wondering, any other children with heart problems on clonidine (for

whatever purpose)? Any probs? If for sleep, any success (or not)? This

meds stuff is unknown territory for us as she has never really needed

ongoing meds and we have just got used to the sodium valporate for fits.

Any input would be really helpful.

Wasn't from Surrey on clonidine for something or other? Any heart

complications or other info? No info too trivial.

Thanks in advance.

Flo,

We discussed it but it was ruled out by Dr. Blake who said she didn't want

Kennedy on it on account of her heart so I didn't do much research on it

beyond that. I hope it works well and safely for her and that you guys get

some sleep soon.
