Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Big few days. Friday we went to court and and I are now co-guardians for . It was kind of sad because we had to claim that he is not capable of even basic care for himself, which is true, but hard to have to say in court. So he was emancipated for only a few weeks from May 10 when he turned 18 to June 1 when he lost his rights. Of course it was a time of total debauchery on his part! (just kidding of course). Anyway, on Saturday we had his high school graduation open house and on Sunday he marched at commencement. Of course he can go to high school in Michigan until he is 26 and he will do so, but we wanted him to go through commencement with his class. It was worth it. We have a clip of his going across the stage on youtube at > . Even though his circle of friends formally fell apart in high school and he has had less time in inclusive settings, it seems that all of that work to support him socially has paid off. He got the loudest applause and cheering of anyone, a lot of it coming from his fellow seniors. Tim S.
