Guest guest
I had a thyroidectomy in 1967 when I was 22. The docs thought I had thyroid cancer, but pathology report said Hashimoto's. I did okay on synthroid for about 20 years, but then docs started enforcing TSH test and cut my synthroid dose in half. Since then I have been very hypothyroid, gained 75 pounds, blood pressure went up, dxed fibromyalgia 1997, unable to work, on disability since 2004. I took 20 mg lisinopril and 25 HCTZ for bp. Blood pressure running around 145/85 with these meds. For the last 5-6 years have been on Armour thyroid, 3.25 grains. The only other prescription I take is Ambien for sleep. Lately have been reading a lot online, found the STTM website. Had canary.club tests January, 28, 2008. I am postmenopausal-no HRT. Diagnos-Techs found me to be Stage 4 Adrenal Fatigue: Free Cortisol Rhythm: 7:00-8:00 am 18 (13-24), 11:00-noon 10 (5-10),4:00-5:00 pm 3 ( 3-8), 11:00-midnight 6 (1-4), Cortisol Burden: 37 (23-42) DHEA 1 (3-10) TSH 76 (26-85), fT4 0.29 (0.17-0.42), fT3 0.57 (0.28-1.10), TPO Negative E2 Estradiol 15 (Postmenopause- no HRT: 1-4, HRT Target Range: 5-13) P1 Progesterone 72 (Postmenopause-no HRT: 5-95, HRT Target Range: 100-300) TTF Free Testosterone 19 (Normal 8-20) After I got these tests back, I found an alternative doc who prescribed 15 mg Cortef and told me to take 2 drops Lugol's daily. I worked up gradually from 2.5 mg Cortef to 15mg. After doing okay with this I added 0.5 grains Armour for 2 weeks, then added another 0.25 grains Armour. BP went up(I am not sure exactly when it went up). Have since bought a blood pressure monitor. I quit taking the HCTZ ( a diuretic). BP is still up: this morning first thing 150/98, a few minutes ago 152/110. I am still taking the lisinopril. Also I asked the doc about the sex hormone results, he just said they are puzzling! I paid him for this response! Test results from Sept 2007: Sodium 141 (135-146), Potassium 3.6 (3.5-5.3). My regular doc had more tests run on me which I got back last week as follows(I forgot and took thyroid meds the day of the test): TSH 0.04 (0.4-4.5), fT4 1.3 (0.8-1.8), fT3 550 (230-420), reverse T3 25 (11-32), TPOAb <10 (<35), TgAb <20 (<20) Ferritin 27 (20-288) Aldosterone 4 (4-31), Renin 6.2 ( 0.65-5.0), ACTH Level Test <5 (5-27) B-12 555 (200-1100), Folic Acid >24 (over 5.4) I had thought Aldosterone might come back high with my HBP and low K. Am also taking supplements, including Zinc, Selenium, Magnesium, Inositiol, Omega-3, multi-vit + B-50. Just wondered if you Val or anyone might have input on all of this or make any sense of it. I am desparate to feel better. Should I back up and quit taking cortef, iodine, and additional armour and see if bp normalizes? Then start again one thing at a time? Thank you, Lynn Sorry this post is so long…
