For years I have had intense, uncontrollable, shaking moments of rage that I knew were more physiological than psychological, yet the only advice I would get from doctors was to take tranquilizers or antidepressants. Once I started supporting my adrenals with HC, I noticed the sudden rages were becoming a rare occurrence. There has to be a connection. I believe I was getting adrenaline surges, because I often felt like I was over-reacting, but was unable to stop the shaking, rapid heartrate, and overwhelming rage. IIRC, low cortisol means high adrenaline, isn't that right? I also thought I read something about high estrogen messing up cortisol levels, and I have estrogen related migraines that have finally been alleviated with the use of progesterone cream. I know a lot of others have had bad luck with it, but somehow for me, the combination of progesterone cream and HC has been almost miraculous. 8)
Guest guest
I sympathize with both of you! I just experienced this 'rage/anger/mania' last week when I thought I had some sort of adrenaline surge or thyroid dump. However, Val informed me it was not a thyroid dump (b/c apparently you need excessive T3 to dump into your cells to have that happen). Anyways, the anger and rage was noticed even by my therapist. It was exactly as you say PHYSIOLOGICAL, not my overreacting (although I am aware that I do this sometimes). It occurred when I got up to 12.5 mcg Synthroid and 2 1/2 pellets Isocort and licorice. Apparently, with the combo, something snapped and i went super hyperthyroid in symptoms and had a major anger reaction. I have noticed my anger going up slowly over the past week (as I have increased my Isocort and thyroid) so I cannot be sure what the cause is. Perhaps it is low cortisol, and I need more Isocort. But, then why did the anger start when I began increasing everything? I am in the same boat as you all in not understanding. As Val has said many times, these symptoms of low cortisol can be like those of high cortisol. It is just so counter-intuitive!
