Hi all,

I am new to this group. I arrived here via the thyroid patient

advocacy group as I am hypo with fibro symptoms so am planning to

change to Armour thyroid as soon as I am able. I completed an adrenal

function questionnaire which came out that my adrenals are in very

poor shape. I have sent off for the 24 hour salivary test prior to my

appointment with Dr Peatfield a week on Sunday (it may be that I

won't get the results back in time for that appointment,

unfortunately). My question is – when is it best to take this test?

My feeling is to do it on one of the days that I work, rather than on

the intervening days I have to rest in order to carry on working!!!

When I spoke to nptech they said it didn't matter.

Just a bit about me – I have been treated for hypothyroidism for the

past 14 years and suffered with fibro symptoms for much longer than

that. I also have Menieres Syndrome which meant that I was medically

retired from my job, which I loved, 8 years ago. I have managed to

slowly recover enough to start part-time working again. My health

dipped again last year (bearing in mind I never feel really well!)

because of stress, the enemy of folks like us. My daughter, who lives

and works in New York was run over and broke her pelvis in three

places. She survived, thank God, and I spent weeks over there with

her. She is back at work now but has just heard that post-traumatic

arthritis, which has set in really rapidly, means that later on this

year she will need to have a hip replacement - a lot for a very

active 27 year old to cope with. I will be going over several times

this year to support her again.

So, having found, with the tpa and this group, a very positive way

forward to start making real improvements to my health. I am keen to

get started with treating my adrenals and my thyroid as soon as I

can. I am under no illusion that my body has been very damaged by

being under-treated and by having had a very stressful and difficult

life. I know that things will take time to start to get better. I am

aware that the best way to recover would be to rest and not go

charging across the Atlantic, but life ain't like that and my girl

needs me!

I am so grateful for the support that I have already received from

this group just by reading others postings and the wealth of

information.

Many thanks

Adrienne
