Hi

You're right to hold your HC dose for now, and see how things pan

out. In any case, reducing HC would be done slowly. I didn't

actually reduce my Pred permanently - my adrenals need all the help

they can get - Florinef and cortisol. I tried to get by on less, but

couldn't, so I still take 7 mg Pred a day, and 150mcg Florinef. I

still get a pounding heart when I stand up, can't stand for long, and

have low blood pressure. This suggests I could actually take more

Florinef, but I have to watch my blood sugar, so I am sticking where

I am for now.

My hormone doctor has someone on 800mcg of Florinef a day, and no

cortisol. Apparently she feels wonderful!! I think it is easy to

become too focused on cortisol replacement and ignore low

aldosterone - this is perhaps the case when someone seems to need

very high doses of HC and still feels little or no benefit.

800mcg? Wow, I've never even heard of anybody over 200mcg.. what does

more Florinef do? Or did this person need 800mcg to achieve the

sodium/potassium balance that maybe another person can do on

100-200mcg? I thought my dose of 200mcg was pushing a record LOL.

I wonder if this is more of an isolated case or if some people do need

over 100-200mcg (with lower dose of cortisol of course).
