I just wanted to share a little bit of what Cameron has been doing lately.

Last Sunday he insisted on participating in the performance part of our

homeschooling group's variety show. I home school his brother (1st

grade) who stood up and read two poems - one he wrote himself. So

Cameron wanted to tell a joke - " Why do humming birds hum? Because they

don't know the words! " I went up with him and verbally interpreted

(looking back I don't know how to facilitate this as I didn't ask him if

he wanted me to repeat the joke I just assumed that the audience

wouldn't be able to understand his speech. This is something I need to

think about - respecting Cameron's abilities...and not just being his

mom.)...but he was so proud to tell the joke and of course the audience

laughed and clapped. I was so proud of him. Here was a child who has

been through a lot and he was excited to share something with a large

group of people.

A few weekends ago he was staying with grandparents and his grandfather

couldn't understand what he was saying verbally - unfortunately he

doesn't know much ASL either so the communication has to be oral. But

after about three attempts to get his grandfather to understand Cameron

walked over and playfully slugged him in the arm and said quite clearly,

" Now do you understand? " So I guess Cameron will get along as he needs

to in this world and bring us all along for the ride.

And last weekend I told him that he was a precious gift from God as I

was drying him off from a bath. He repeated this to his grandfather and

then added, " Jesus put me in and then God tied me up " At first I didn't

get it. Perhaps you're already smiling, but because I told him he was a

_gift_ he figured that Jesus put him in the box and God tied up the bow.

How precious is that?

Just wanted to share some of the recent joyful moments in our home. It

makes the hard falls and frustrating times a bit easier to take when

there are such glimmers of joy.
