balance -vestibular system

Recently I know there was discussion about the vestibular system and balance.

We discovered when Karlee was 15 that she does not have the semicircular canals.

She walked at 21/2 (late due more to multiple surgeries). She does ride a bike

and can swim.

When she was young she could not run in a straight line. As an 8th grader she

participated in track and ran the 100 meter dash - staying in her own lane.

That was a major accomplishment even though she was last.

Karlee graduated from h.s. last month. I do have to share a story. Our

graduations are outside with the graduates sitting on top of a grass bowl (our

football field.) Anyway - after graduation the superintendent and board

president told me they were holding their breath becuase Karlee was walking to

closely to the edge of the bank. They were worried that she was going to tumble

down. The school showed concern for Karlee up to her last event!
