Today at 12:15 JD had to have emergency surgery. Since last Friday JD has been

having a dry cough. On Saturday, and I went ahead and did a trach change.

We saw that there was caked blood inside his trach. On Sunday, JD would start

coughing, throwing up and we would see that there was some blood in his trach.

and I called the doctor and was advised to keep watching him and that if

he does it again take him to the ER. The doctor said that he might have broken a

blood vessel. Around 9pm Sunday night, JD did it again with more blood. Our

nurse got there and her and I went to the ER. During our ER visit, nothing

really happened, which means that we were sent home. We needed the ENT doctors

to come in and do a scope. We got home around 4am. JD slept most of the day.

Around 10 pm, when got home, JD started his coughing again. This time we

changed his trach out and there was more blood. We knew something was causing

all of this. We called our doctor and he told us to watch him over night and

take him to the ENT clinic to have them do a scope. and our nurse went,

while I came on into work. called me around 10:30 and said that there were

some granulmoa (tissue) and this was blocking his airway. This also tells us

that JD is breathing great through his nose without problems. They told

that they needed to do surgery and he had to sign the paperwork without me. I

know it was hard for him but he made the best decision. then leaned over

to JD crying and said that HE (god) would take care of him. I got up to the

hospital when they had already sent him in. The surgery took about an hour. They

could not put him to sleep through his trach up they were able to put the mask

over his face. They got the track out and there was a plug and cut out the

tissue that was causing the problems. JD went to the floor around 3:30 and was

in good spirits. I will be staying with him tonight and he will get to come home

tomorrow.

So the good news about this one, is that JD’s nose is still open and soon he

will not need the trach. Thank you for your hugs, prayers and calls
