Guest guest
So I went to see a doc in Belgium after being unable to optimize Armour after 1 year and 8 months and having taken HC for a year and a half. I didn't actually see dr. Hertoghe, which was quite a surprise because I thought I had an appointment with him, but I did see Dr. Amaya de Bernedo as well as Dr. Marie Lhermitte, who joined us at the end part of the appointment. They seemed to know exactly what they were talking about so I didn't feel bad about not seeing Dr. Hertoghe himself. Anyway, a couple of things were quite surprising. The doctors said that it would be best to take both Armour and HC in just one or two doses in the morning, and the last bits by 3pm. I've been taking Armour in four and HC in five doses. They felt that I'd sleep better too if I did this (it takes me 1-3 hours to get to sleep and I always wake up at some point of the night, and it takes me 1-3 hours to get back to sleep). I'll try to switch my Armour dosing starting tomorrow, but I'll wait with HC until my next appointment and test results at the end of April. The Armour I canunderstand, but doesn't a high dose of HC in the morning tend to shut down one's own production? I'll have to ask the doc about her take on this next time. Dr. Bernedo thought what I've been thinking myself, that I probably have and have always had defficiencies of several other hormones as well: DHEA, oestrogen, progestrone, testosterone, growth hormones... Next time I'll get prescriptions based on blood tests and a 24h urine sample (which I'm hoping is valid enough in spite of the fact that I was having a lot of trouble with it). The doc also believed that I'd be taking both HC and these other hormones for the rest of my life. At first this was a bit of a shock, but she convinced me it was ok since I'd only be taking what my body doesn't produce. She did believe, though, that as soon as I'll get all the hormones upto a good level I'll be able to lower both Armour and HC. I also got a bunch of dietary advice, and I've started changing my diet: I started eating meat, since apparently (almost) all vegetarian sources of protein are poisonous to us. I also dropped off all grains, including rice as well as potatoe. Apparently it's ok to have some of this stuff as long as you pack it all into just two days per week, which should make it a bit easier. I've just noticed that I'm still hungry after a meal of meat and vegetables, but I guess it'll just take the body some time to get used to all of this. Anyway, I just wanted to report on all this and hopefully get some insight on what to expect with the other hormones. I'm a bit anxious to get started, because I have somewhat high hopes for all this, but I will in less than two months. I hope I'll get my test results sooner, though.
