Guest guest
Well, I have been trying all the numbers for this Dr. Toomey and have had no success. She is apparently a psychologist who deals with kids with feeding problems. Does anyone know if there is someone else who is a specialist that only deals with psychological issues related to eating? I don't care where they are located. Debbie Matasker mom to w/CHARGE 10, 12, andra
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Here was the most recent contact information for Dr. Toomey (I got it from the moderator of the blendarized-diet list): http://www.valeriefoundation.org/ourmission.html If you are looking for another feeding specialist, Lorioux Loup is a feeding therapist and the director of Toft House in Everett. I met her a couple of weekends ago, and was really inspired by her approach. She deals with feeding problems in kids who are medically-OKed to eat orally--they just aren't able to for some emotional or psychological reason. Her contact information is 425 210 3486, 3602 Everett Ave, Everett, WA 98201. I know she is working on a web page, but I don't think it's up yet. (mom to Evan, 2 years old in 2 weeks!) Guest guest
Debbie, I was reading your email to about 's feeding problems, and based on what you are describing I think Lorioux could help. She does a 2 week " rapid wean " where both parents and the child live at her clinic (it is in an actual house, so it is a home environment). The parents prepare all the meals at the house, and she works with you feeding your child 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks. I met one of her clients who was 3. He had bad reflux, and would gag/vomit at the smell of food or if a spoon came closer than 4 inches away from his face. They did the rapid wean last July. After the 2 weeks, he was mostly eating orally and his g-tube was removed 6 months later. Good luck in finding what needs! Debbie Matasker matasker@...> wrote: , Thanks! This is very helpful.
