Guest guest
Just wanted to report DH's latest adventure with DHEA. Started him on 5 mg, and he felt great with more energy for 3 days. There was some stress at work, and he got progressively more hypo each day. After a week, when it got to the point he was depressed and almost in tears again, stools were hard, seriously fatigued, I figured this was not adrenal anymore, this was low thyroid. He had no anxiety, which is his major adrenal symptom; every indicator was that he'd become seriously hypo, even though he'd been raising Armour just fine and was now almost at 3 grains! I studied the hormone synthesis chart and all I can figure out is that for him, DHEA converts to estrogen, which binds with thyroid, and thus, effectively lowered his dose. He stopped the DHEA on Sunday, was still very hypo on Tuesday, but by Wednesday, his energy had come back. He said it was actually a stressful day at work, with lots of stuff going on, yet he didn't have to stress dose, and had enough energy to get through the day! So I guess no more DHEA for him! But just got my saliva labs back and I showed low in DHEA, so will have to do a trial myself sometime. Barb
